MIPAY Talkmobile - Strange Charge
Comments

So these frauds are happening electronically , or are people using the cards? anyone?0

My husband has been hit with this charge on his debit card, He is an RBS customer. In regard the outlets people may have been hit at, the only two places are Morrisons or a local plumbing firm. He has cancelled his card but does anyone know if you can get this money back or not. Something has to be done about this as it seems to be a major concern:mad:0

£30 also on 11th april (comes up as 14th april on transaction viewer). HSBC account, not on pre-pay mobile (voda contract) and not dealt with CPW.
I can't even think of any dodgy shops I might have used it in. A new card is on its way and HSBC were efficient and polite on the phone.0 -
MIPAY TALKMOBILE T BROOKWOOD SUR have hit my Maestro card twice inside the last 5 weeks for £30 each time.
The card is now canceled and the banks fraud team is investigating it, hopefully I get my money back.0 -
Update: We have received a text message from the bank fraud team, the money for the first £30 taken by O2 has been repaid into our account, still waiting for the £30 that went out on MiPay though, but all is looking good.
At first I presumed this all had to do with one of the mobile telephone companies "selling" customer details to a third party, but with some of the reports here, it doesn't appear to be that way. So what do we all have in common? My list if it helps anyone.
RBS: Is my bank
O2: We used to top up one daughters phone over the phone with the bad card
T-Mobile: We used to top up the other daughters phone over the phone with the same card.
Morrisons: Is our most used supermarket.
J.Davies BP: Is where we fill the car.
We always cover our hands at cashline machines and have done for several years now. We are creatures of habit, so where we spend money using our cards is pretty minimal and consistant.
Edit: I have a niggle in the back of mind here, am I right in thinking that RBS about a year ago lost a lot of personal Banking information on their customers, that was kept on a disc or key or something like that? Have I just dreamed this up in a bid to find an answer, or did this actually happen?0 -
Could the link possibly be Talk Talk or The Carphone Warehouse having our details?0

Could the link possibly be Talk Talk or The Carphone Warehouse having our details?
Hi VVV, we have never had any dealings with talk talk or carphone warehouse, so that is definately not the link, for us at least.
I have since searched for the data that was lost by RBS.
"Over a million addresses, mobile phone numbers, bank account numbers, sort codes, credit card numbers, mothers’ maiden names and signatures were found on the hard drive."
This might also explain the sudden increase in strange phone calls in the past few weeks, claiming to be from ebay and demanding money for a golden dildo
This could well be where all of this started. I can't put in the link incase I spam, but it is from an article in the Belfast Telegraph dated 27th August 2008. Just copy paste what is below.

Hello guys, just noticed this strange transaction on my statement. From MIPAY TALKMOBILE T for £30 which as i well know now is a Fraudulent Action. I phoned my bank up "HSBC" asap and told them about this transaction which i did not make. And they are sending me a Dispute form to fill out. And i also blocked my account for the time being until. But what i am REALLY shocked to know is that this has been going on and why HSBC bank does not already halt this transaction. :mad:0

I also had £30 deducted from my account without my knowledge. This has happened twice ! The speed with which HSBC acted upon being informed, and the odd remarks of the operator made me think that this is not a 'one off' incident. I wonder how many people have not yet spotted this peculiar amount which could go unnoticed. Princesa0
