Hi folks,
Just to give prior info. Im considering moving this board i(still as a seperate main board) nto the MoneySavers arms near discussion time.
While Im a fan of the board, its a talking shop and pure money is intended primarily for practical moneysaving guides and advice. So it fits better down there.
The robust nature of discussion in here can mean that those venturing in here looking for simple tips, and askign questions can be met by an unexpected tidal wave of polemic, which isn't what pure money is supposed to be.
I would like to take soundings first though - or alternative suggestions to ease this. Im sure there won't be a shortage of ideas.
Martin
Just to clarify this is not a proposal to merge the board it is simply to move it into the discussion & debate section of the site which is the Money Savers Arms. I have added a poll as requested (though its indicative not binding!)
UPDATE NOTE 7PM 30th March
For the time being I've changed the name of the board slightly, to give more indication of what people will find.
However the team and I are going to monitor the board. If people continue to be abusive to each other then we're going to have to start PPRing more liberally - not somethign I like doing.
So please can those who get agressive, just calm down the tone, debate is fine but scathing anger simply doesn't fit what these forums are for.

Me too, will mean I won't have to scroll back up the board!0 -
I think I would have to agree with this.
This board is NOT the place to come for sound advice.0 -
Definitely a bad idea, the fact that this board is about house prices (going down), the economy (going down) and recession (going down, by its very nature) would generally mean that we aren't all about fluffy bunnies, hugs and kisses. Most people coming here, by the very nature of the name of the board, should expect some robust conversation.
There is some serious discussion here (most of the time), and to trivialise it by moving it, especially to DT, where I for one never go, would in my opinion be a bad idea.0 -

I think you may have a good idea. I don't think there is now much controversy that house prices have fallen and that they had become overpriced.
As a result, we (myself included) have tended to stray into other areas, with arguments rather than advice being the focus of discussion.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0 -

You should pop in to DT! I can assure you they're are no fluffy bunnies there!0 -

That's the whole point. It's not about hugs, fluffy bunnies etc - the board itself is not going to change. There will still be the usual discussion, the usual sock puppets and the usual bitterness - but surely it's more suited to DT.
Pure money is for people seeking advice - this is something this board does not/cannot offer MSE.0 -
Quite happy to be moved for the reasons given.
Whilst some might argue this board is a useful road map for unsuspecting would be buyers, in reality, there is a preponderance of uber negativity, which in no way reflects the reality. In 'the real world' the majority of people do simply get on with thier lives and not fret over whether they might be buying pre - bottom. They are'nt so afraid of loss of money tickets.0 -
A shame, but understandable.
Perhaps it would help if the sockpuppeteers went to The Arms?0
