OK I have had a pants couple of days so need to fess up. My MIL had a stroke on Wednesday so we have been at 6s and 7s this week - all meal planning out of the window. On Thursday DD and I decided to treat ourselves and had KFC for dinner. Then yesterday it was her school speech day, and I had hot dog and chips to sustain me through the speeches, a sponge cake AND an eccles cake after, and cheese sandwiches and a bottle of beer in the evening having decided that the day was wrecked so I'd best do it in style LOL. (Did enjoy the beer though - not had one for months!)

Back on the case this morning (I find weekends easier as I'm not rushing around like an idiot!), so I'll hopefully rectify the damage soon.

I think part of my problem is I've fallen off the end of my meal plan as regards lunch on work days, so I need to do some more planning. I find work meals really hard, as I have an active job so need to eat plenty to keep my energy levels up, but I'm so busy I don't get much time to eat. Rock and hard place, anyone?

Off to do some vigorous cleaning to work off the eccles cake!

Hello flat_eric. Sorry to hear you had a bad day food wise, but this can happen to all of us. Don't let it get you down, but go back on plan tomorrow. Why worsen things by having two bad days instead of one?

I would make your food diary 100% accurate and truthful, your consultant can assist you correctly then. If they don't know what you've eaten they cannot help.

One burger and chips isn't going to destroy everything. We all have weaker moments, the plan is designed so that these don't have to mean the end of the world.

Record the syns as best you can for what you had, it probably won't look quite so bad as you think anyway, but even if it does, well we're humans not robots - tomorrow is another day.

Thank you for your very helpful post Dux. You are very true when you say that I should get back on the plan 100% today because I know deep down that if I didnt follow the plan today, one bad day on Friday would turn into all weekend and probably until I returned to class on Tuesday. My biggest battle has always been coping with those days when its gone a little bit pear shaped - if I have a meal out, it seems to affect my whole week and its important I try to reverse that because if I can get that cracked then I think I will have the SW plan sussed! Thank you so much again. my day is all planned out and Im intending on being really good :D

oh, flat-eric, this happens to all of us. Quite often I mean to say 'mixed salad with no dressing' and 'fish and chips pops out!! As Dux says one off plan meal won't wreck everything.
I also had a bad day yesterday, as I went out and had several glasses of wine that were over my sin allowance. I'm also annoyed because I am trying not to drink. once again, I meant to say, 'diet coke , please' and 'big glass of white wine' popped out! Clearly I need to sellotape my mouth shut, it gets me into no end of trouble.

So my meals yesterday were:

Breakfast - shredded wheat (HEB) and milk (HEA)
Lunch - soup - stock, pasta and yellow peas (same as yesterday but with pulses added) Salad (F) dressing (2 sins), cheese (HEA)
Snack - two apples, cereal bar (no idea of sins, can't find it on the website)
Dinner - pasta with HM tomatoe sauce (F), 4 Ikea meatball (stolen from kids), raspberries.
alcohol - probably half a bottle of wine (but frankly was not looking to hard).

So not the best day but probably not the worst. today I have the barbeque and a headache!

Hello
your post didnt have make me laugh. I so loved the bit where you said where you intend to order mixed salad with no dressing but 'fish and chips pops out!!

Im only allowed 10 - 12 syns now and whilst I dont drink stupid amounts!, I do like to drink (at the weekends) say an unmeasured amount of wine or whatever takes my fancy which is just that little bit tricky when you are following the SW plan. Lager has started to creep back in for me (thats got to stop). I like my red wine but have these huge wine glasses so 175 ml (6 syns) seems about 2 mouthfuls!!!!!!

I find it annoying as how can it be so calorific when its something you drink?!!

I just dont know what came over me yesterday but the important thing is that I dont let that burger and chips ruin my whole week. If I put yesterday to one side and stick to the plan for the rest of the week then yesterday might prove salvageable and I might still lose which will help keep me motivated for next week and help keep me focussed etc.

I have started the day with sainsburys smoked bacon medalions (free), 2 fried eggs and a big flat mushroom. I havent decided on my lunch yet but for tea, my OH is cooking me the SW beef madras curry and I am hoping that he will do the onion bhajis (1 syn each) and the tomato relish (which is free).

I will probably have a muller passionfruit and lemon yogurt for pudding with some fresh raspberries.

Im snacking on some grapes at the moment and plan to enjoy a few syns later for some lime vodka and a free mixer so all in all it should be a good day :o thank you

In a way it's comforting that I'm not the only one that has slipped up recently, so thank you!!!

Today so far have had Mullerlight with couscous for breakfast, and baked potato with cottage cheese and two Laughing Cow light triangles for lunch, so pretty much back on track. May do something curryish for dinner, as have just started doing some more meal planning and today was meant to be a red day LOL. Well that ain't happening! Have 2xB still to use so can do a tandoori chicken or something similar and have rice with it.

Is that just plain couscous? Do you mix it with the mullerlight? Is it filling? Sorry to bomabrd you with questions but have never thought of having anything like this, but I like couscous and mullerlights and could do with some inspiration for breakfast, I get bored having toast, cereal, fruit etc for brekkie and could do with trying something new!

Cheers

As part of my aim to get 100% back on the SW plan, Im having a sort through my cupboards....

Im aiming to have two food shelves with my SW friendly food.....

so Im labelling stuff up that has a syn value and lo and behold ive found some sauces I purchased yonks ago.

I have found some levi roots reggae reggae sauce in the cupboard

I get awfully confused when trying to use the syn calculator.....

so I enter the info from the back of the jar as follows: -

typical values per 100g
energy, 512kj, 121 kcal
proteing 1.1g
carbohydrate 28.8g of which sugars 27.1g
fat 0.1 of which saturates 0.0g
fibre 0.5g
sodium 0.4

size of bottle is 310g

so i enter this information and it tells me that the syn value is
19 Syns per package/portion on Green or Original

does this mean 19 syns for the whole bottle ? it surely cant be 19 syns per portion?

I get really confused when I use the calculator as im never quite sure how to read the result it tells me.

can anyone shed any light on the issue ?

Yes, Missty. It was recommended by Consultant a few pages back. It is certainly more filling than the yogurt by itself, and I'm having it a couple of times a week for breakfast these days. A couple of other people tried it and didn't like it that much, but I'm a convert!

Lets see if this helps...

The amount that you type in the 'package/portion size' box is the amount it will give you the syns for.

So if you want to use 1 tbsp, put in 15g
If you are going to use half the bottle, type 155g
If you want to use the whole bottle, put in 310g

That way, you can see the syns for the amount you will actually use
