It's not fun is it, BLUEWKD, when you build yourself up to try some coupons and get knocked back. So sorry it happened to you today, I know it feels really awful to be singled out by Managers in front of other customers (it's happened to me quite a lot in the past). But unless the staff actually said anything rude or defamatory then I would leave it & try elsewhere.

A Store Manager can decide to restrict coupon-use and HO will back them if they have made this decision for good reason (maybe people had been using duplicates or Somerfield, Sainsburys or Asda ones or something that caused that store to lose money previously?).

I have 2 Tesco stores near me that don't take internet coupons and another that only allows one coupon altogether (and no magazine MOCs). So I just don't use those stores much, I have found a nice one that takes one of each of any NSS coupons.

Through trial and error you may hopefully find a store which is happier to accept your coupons (or maybe an Asda?). Once you've found a nice store your shopping experience will - usually - be much less fraught.

TBH you don't need your own email, just as good to copy & paste the one posted on this board by someone else. I carry an email with me but it wasn't obtained by me, it was posted by another person on MSE or PTS and I liked the wording, lol! Even with that email I wouldn't necessarily expect to convince a Store to change their policy, some stores won't budge.

I also feel that too many MSEers emailing HO about the coupon policy is risking it being looked into at a higher level. I don't like to rock the boat with HO so I have never emailed them about the bad treatment I have suffered along the couponing road. Glad I didn't email them now (even though I felt angry & embarrassed like you do now) as I have found a nice store who take lots of coupons and others that take some coupons.

One bad episode I did complain about but I made the complaint instore on a separate visit (once I had calmed down) and the Duty Manager apologised. I reckon only email HO as a last resort as they won't force the store to take coupons anyway.

Good luck with finding your nearest coupon-happy store. :)

I totally agree with you. Have just been reading on another thread how these benefits can easily be withdrawn if the store thinks they are being taken advantage of. Am always grateful when any Tesco or Asda take my MOC's.

I am unable to print any couponnet vouchers as it says I am not an administrator. I'm using my husbands details who is set up as an administrator so it doesn't make sens.

Anyone any ideas - would be grateful for any advice.

Are you logged on using your husband's user name and password? If not I think you need to in order to be accepted as administrator.

Yes I'm logged into his details & using his email & password too.

So frustrating when I can see the coupons available to print

To save me ringing them all up has anybody got any experience using coupons in barnsley, batley any other Leeds or west or south yorkshire Tesco's please
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

  • Bluewkd, when I am doing a shop using coupons I always try to stick to buying the things that I really need anyway and also things that I feel are a bargain that way if my coupons are rejected (although annoying) I haven't really lost anything.
If you then wanted to treat yourself you could go back to another till with the money you have saved (and some more coupons if you are as cheeky as me!) and buy the treat.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • I have just called three East Midlands Tesco stores.

Long Eaton - Will not accept internet coupons full stop. All other coupons are ok as long as they stock the product and you dont need to purchase it. One of each type per transaction.

Loughborough - Will only accept one of each type per transaction and you HAVE to buy the product.

Nottingham - Helpful lady read me the latest policy from the book. Will accept one of each internet coupons as long as you buy the product. Will accept one of each other types inc Asda etc coupons as long as they stock the product. No need to buy.

Confusin hey!! Anyone else have experience of these three stores? Wondering if this is gospel or depends on what s/a you get? Guess we need to suck it and see!!

First post so hi to all!

  • Goes to show then as to how random it is!! My mummyinlaw in Cornwall adopts the best s/a's and always tries to use them wherever possible! I was down there last week and one girl would literally take everything off her...duplicates as well. Will let you know what happens when we go to any of the stores. At the moment I'm battling with Coupon Printer being installed. It installs but then still wont work when I try and print. Driving me crazy!!

Hi there - I'm new to the site but am finding it fascinating and eye-opening, mind-boggling eve !

Please can you tell me where you found the copy of the Tesco policy, as my local store are adamant that they will NOT accept any internet vouchers, when I phoned them.

However, last night I successfully scanned £7-worth of internet vouchers (without buying any of the products) before the sef-serve machine said "authorisation required" - when the supervisor arrived, she told me they only accept 2 of these vouchers per transaction.

Tody when I tried again, I managed to scan about £8-worth of vouchers before the machine said "auth required" again. This time the supervisor opened the machine, removed the vouchers, handed them back to me and told me they don't accept ANY internet vouchers.

I made a call to head office who told me its up to the individual store manager, and unfortunately for me, my store policy is NOT to accept any.

I then made a call to the store itself - after speaking to a number of clueless asistants, I receieved the response that the Checkout Manager had apparentl confirmed that NO vouchers are acceptable.

    Thank you

    Millies Mum
