2% bonus for 12 months taking it to 6% to those that open a plus account.. maybe the downgrade/upgrade approach will work.. Will wait for Dagobert feedback on that..0 -
The offer is available till 13th July.
I will probably wait a couple weeks before upgrading. Will report back how it went.Dagobert0 -
I spoke to PhoneBank this morning and after going off to check, the CSA said that all existing Classic Plus customers will receive the 6% rate automatically.
I've noted her name, etc. but wondered if anyone else had had the same advice?0 -
I would phone them again tipsychick and get something in writing.
I have a Classic Plus account and have just looked up the terms online and they clearly state:
"Existing customers - You will need to ask for the higher interest rate. You will not receive this automatically. "

I'm going to call later when hopefully they will have dealt with a few similar queries and CSAs will know what they are supposed to be doing to ensure the 6% rate is applied.Up Tipp!0 -
Let us know how you got on quinlanmd.0

Just done it on the phone, no problems.
Just explained to the first lady that I had a Classic Plus account, heard the new rate, wondered if I had to close my accounts and reapply to get it. She then spoke to her supervisor who had had many a similar call today. They then put me through to another department who sorted all out with no fuss. You just need all your details to hand, including security info.
Must say very impressed.
However, do not make the mistake of letting them ask you about home insurance.... unless you have an hour to spare!!!
Just letting people know though, this will not be applied automatically!! You need to ring and request it!0 -
just went into branch and signed a form and they said the rate will change straightaway (already had a classic plus account) - no hassleKeep the Faith:cool:0

What If You Have Got A Classic Account, If I Went Into The Branch Would They Let Me Upgrade, Do You Have To Pay A Monthly Fee On This Account?0

No there is no fee for this Classic Plus account. All you need to qualify for the 6% is by paying in at least £1000 per month.
You don't have to go to the branch to upgrade, you can go to Online Banking, click on the Upgrade link next to your account. Make sure you chose Classic Plus and not others like Select or Platinum which are fee paying accounts!0
