Hello
I was so warmed by all the support and creative ideas on the stay at home mums thread that I thought it would be a good idea to start something similar for those of us who are working and could do with making our work and family life run a bit more smoothly. I am a mummy of one with a variety of animals to fit into my schedule as well. So lets see if we can pull ideas to make life that little bit easier!

I like the idea of this thread. I do however fit a bit into both.
I work Monday & Tuesday 7:45 till 5:00. I also run a little business from home where I have poeple coming to see me, either in the evening or during the day.
I have 2 wonderful children. Eldest is 5 & in reception. Youngest will be 3 next month. She will start pre-school mid March Wed & Thurs afternoon for 2 1/2 hours. On the Wed afternoon I will be helping at school with a reading programme they are setting up, which leaves me with Thurs afternoon with some me time (ie running round doing house work etc)
We have 1 dog - very old & ill so no walks to speak of any more:( and 2 rabbits.
Looking forward to lots of ideas & contributing some of mine0 -
Hiya, I am on the SAHM thread because I AM a full time mom to three little boys and I also run my own business from home, part time. So I guess I could join this one too?3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I love the idea of this thread. im a full time working mum with two not so little ones aged 12 and 4. the 12 year old is easy peasy to get out in the morning but the little one is a nightmare. i get up at half 7 then run round like a blue arsed fly trying to get out for 8 to drop him off at breakfast club and then to work for 9 - on the bus. desperately need motivation to sort things out!0

Well I'm a fulltime student and work part time
I've got 1 DS who's nearly 4, he's in nursery fulltime
At the minute I'm on placment working horrible shifts. I'm doing 48 hour weeks and barely seeing my DS. It's killing me!
My house looks like a bombs hit it and I look like I haven't slept in weeks
Attractive eh
But on the bright side I've only got 2 weeks left of this placement then it's back to uni for 4 weeks of lovely Mon-Friday 9-5 hours
It'll be heavenFuture Mrs Gerard Butler

Hi
My issue after recently going back to work full time is how to get quotes/things done around the house? Have few things need doing ie. tree pruning, new fascias...do trades people come after 6pm to give quotes? Or on a Sat am?
I have a 8 year old at school and a 3 year old at nursery and childminder btw.

I'm trying to figure out how on earth to get my garden sorted when I'm at work all day and I've got a one-year-old and a four-year-old to look after the rest of the time. Perhaps I could train my son to use the hedge trimmers so that I can stay inside with the baby? Or maybe I could run the lawn-mower around in the dark after the kids have gone to bed?0

Hi,
Love to join this thread as didn't quite feel as I fit into the SAHM thread.
I work part time as a teacher and have a 4 and a half year old boy and a 15 month old girl.
Back to work/school tomorrow (my son is in Reception) so tonight I have made sure mine and his clothes are all ready for the morning. Book bag, snack money etc ready. Lunch will do in the morning.
Have a good week folks and look forward to picking up lots of tips. x x0 -
I have just got the eldest's clothes ready for the morining. LO is a light sleeper so I will get hers in the morning. Done lunch money, snack money (for term) & made sure I have the cash to give the lady who drops eldest to school on Mon & Tues.
Mon & Tues mornings are quite regimented in our house. I get up at 6. Come down make coffee for me & breakfast for the girls. Go back up & get them up for breakfast. Get dressed & out the house by 7:10. I then drop eldest off on my way to work. Youngest goes to our onsite creche, I arrive there at 7:30 as they are opening. Then walk to work (only 5 mins to my desk). OH works all over & sometimes he is around to help, other times he has left before we get up.
I work till 5:00. Pick LO up from creche. Pick eldest up from after school club (unless OH has already done so). Then we usually have a sandwich, cheese on toast or something else easy for dinner (both have eaten snack food already & both have a cooked meal for lunch). I manage to fit in eldests reading before they start winding down for bedtime, which is at 7:00.
When I went back to work after te second one I squeezed 2 1/2 days into 2 & only dropped a couple of hours. It means 2 busy days BUT I get the rest of the week off.
Will post more tomorrow
