Who leaves feedback first?

I have been involved with sellers who didn't leave a green mark after succesful transaction, I waited a 2months or so and eventually I greened him, I sent an email to say I had done so and he greened me back.

I have seen sellers say on their listings, If I recieve a neg from you I'll neg you back.

It is my understanding that you can't change your green to a red so sellers saying this sort of thing are they the ones who will wait for your feedback b4 giving you any feedback.

The system is a bit crazy legs crane, it should be set out in rules that seller or buyer are to leave feedback first.

What thoughts do you have on the feedback process?

    This is my personal bugbear!! I buy and sell on Ebay. :mad:

    As a seller I leave feedback as soon as I receive payment as I feel the buyer has kept their end of the deal and I expect my feedback to be left once they have received the item and are satisfied.

    When I buy something usually by Paypal I hate it when the seller doesn't leave feedback, I feel that they have something to hide and are holding my positive feedback incase I am not happy with the item!!

    Luckily I haven't had the 'tit for tat' feedback problem but I think it is disgusting when a seller leaves a buyer negative feedback for complaining about a crap item even though they have paid and communicated well!!!
  • i think the tit for tat thing is the problem, a lot of sellers do not leave feedback until they have been left it themselves.

    this is mainly to cover their own backs, as legitimate sellers can have problems with people leaving unwarranted bad feedback.

    i agree with Tom that a seller should not leave bad feedback unless the buyer does not pay, to leave bad feedback because the other person does and for no other reason is apalling.

    But if you are feeling as a buyer that you might leave a neg, you can't do it untill you have had a green from your seller. Because you know if you leave a neg they will reciprocate.

    It should be built into the software such that a seller has to leave feedback first. Any feedbacks can have follow on commments so that is when the seller should say he feels the neg is unjustified.

    When selling, I always used to leave feedback as soon as I got payment, but now I leave it once I have received it from my buyer. From my e-baying experience, its better to wait until the transaction is complete before leaving feedback. From a sellers point of view, the transaction is complete when feedback has been received from the buyer.

    Leaving it when the buyer leaves their feedback signals that that the whole of the transaction was OK and helps to prevent buyers negging you and not trying to resolve a problem with you first.

    Also, it means I'm not leaving feedback for people who can't be bothered to leave it for me! :mad:

    Once you have received your item, it is time to leave feedback for the seller, letting future buyers know about your experience with the seller.

    That would be ok, but even if it is possible to make a comment as to whether you think the negative is deserved or not there is still a negative on record and that negative still affects the persons feedback rating percentage.

    But that is really unfair as all that should be of concern to you as a seller is to get your money promptly after which you should leave the feedback and allow the buyer the opportunity to leave a representative feedback about what they think of your product (what concerns them as buyers) without fear of reprisal. As far as any seller is concerened, the only part he or she is interested in is getting their money. the other part of the transaction (i.e. the quality of the product compared to the description) is entirely up to the buyer and is really non of the seller's business. So please don't tell us that it is better to wait for a signal that the whole of the transaction was OK as this is exactely what sellers with no conifedence at all in their products would say.
    Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????
  • As a small seller and buyer on ebay I leave feedback when I am the seeler as soon as the buyer has confirmed the item is OK and as a buyer I leave feedback only once the seller has left it for me.

    As a buyer when the seller doesn't leave feedback for me on completion of my side of the deal I rather feel that I'm being held to ransom by them (as I have the threat of negative feedback even if they sell me complete junk when they say its brand new). This has probably cost me a fair number on my smallish feedback rating but I don't care.

    I do this because I feel that the person who compeltes their side first should have feedback left first (i.e. as a buyer I paid immediately and completed my side so the seller should acknowledge it via feedback first).

    I personally feel feedback is one are that ebay should include a fixed order policy on.

    So are you saying that as a buyer you expect the seller to leave your feedback as soon as you pay but as a seller you wait for buyers to leave their feedbacks first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is that not Hmm HIPOCRACY?

    Erm, no actually, I have 100% feedback rating and have had two buyers question my 200 plus sales - we sorted it out amongst ourselves. I started leaving it after my buyers because of what eBay themselves advise!!! I know people who have had a neg for slow delivery when they have quoted that items will be posted once payment has cleared - at 5 days after a cheque has been received, assuming you wait in for the posty and pay it in that same day!
