    Hi Ingey,

I live near Skipton and have recently been looking for the dress of my dreams and thankfully have found it and ordered it this weekend. There are a few local shops to Skipton:

Cinderellas in Skipton - good selection of dresses
Emma Hartley in Colne (bout 10 miles from Skipton) - v nice shop, won best wedding dress shop award in 2006.
Silks Gowns in Barnoldswick (bout 8 miles from Skipton) - this is where I got my dress, very friendly people, not the most luxurious of shops but I won't be wearing the shop on my day will I!!?
Sugared Almonds in Earby (bout 7 miles from Skipton) - again, lovely shop & very friendly staff

I'm getting my flowers from my local florist, Catkins, in Settle. They are very reasonably priced and they've done friends wedding flowers before, which have been lovely.

Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Hello all - this thread is certainly a whopper!!

Firstly, for larger sizes of shoe - I really don't want this to sounds mean, but there are some shops specifically for tranvestites which sell larger sizes of women's shoes. I have a friend who is 6'2" and size 9/10 and she swears by them as she can NEVER find anything on the high-street and gets fed up of wearing men's shoes all the time. You can try http://www.electriqueboutique.com or just type 'transvestite shoes' into Google to see loads!!

And now a question too - does anyone know of a wedding list service where you can specify items from different retailers? I have found some which use different specified 'suppliers' but none where you can just pick the items and put a link onto a list - am I looking for something which doesn't exist? If so, would anyone out there like to help me leave my job and start running it? ;-)

    Thanks in advance!

This might be what you are looking for http://www.marriagegiftlist.co.uk/index.htm

I think it allows you to put your own links in so you can technically create a gift list from any combination of places you like online. Your guests then mark off when they've bought it. I don't know what it would be like if two people were buying at the same time....
Anyway, check it out, see if it's what you're after.
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

  • I would like for guests to contribute towards out honeymoon if they want to, as we will have everything we need house wise and not much left over after the wedding to pay for one ourselves.

Does anyone know a good scheme for travel vouchers, i have had a look at thomas cook..but wondered if anyone had any other ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    - Recommendations for wedding dress shops in the Skipton area (Ilkley, Harrogate etc)

Look forward to hearing from you!

    Thanks,
    Mrs Robinson (to be!)

I've spent months looking for a wedding dress I like, then found 4 dresses I loved in Angel Brides in Horsforth (nr Leeds)! I was really impressed with their dress selection (although their prices are not strictly MS!).

As I live in Southampton, it was a bit far to travel up there for the fittings and alterations, so I called some of the stockists in the South, and soon found that they were all competing against each other to offer me the cheapest price. In the end, I ordered my dress from a shop in Croydon, for £875, instead of £1200. I know this is still quite pricey, but I absolutely love it! Anyway, the moral of the story is, when you've found the dress of your dreams, call around a few of the other shops and see if they can offer it to you any cheaper. Worked for me!
  • Hi Everyone, I have been into town today and noticed that Adams have reduced their Bridesmaids/flowergirl dresses and also page boy outfits.

House of Fraser have page boy linen suits reduced, perfect for a summer wedding however their sale ends Sunday 4th feb.

I also noticed that Woolworths have now started selling bridesmaid dresses and page boy outfits.
