It states that only the broadcast itself is covered by the act and the contents of that broadcast is not. in other words section 72 of the act means that businesses who do not charge for entry or increase their charges because of the music do not need a PRS licence!

    Can it be that easy?
Well spotted Dcodd ;) it would appear we jave found a get out clause ;)

BIG THANKS FOR THE HELP RECEIVED ON HERE!!!

Been meaning to do this for a while now, been away from the forums, so belatedly.....I would like to thank, on behalf of the family friend's takeaway, DCodd, Marleyboy,BFG, Jaffakake, oldone, for your invaluable help in beating the PRS scam.:A:A:A:A:A

So a very big thanks to these, and other positive posters, as without your help the takeaway owner would, like others, have been exploited.

Thanks for taking the time to advise, it was very kind, it is much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Sending you all seasons greetings! from the truly grateful and less stressed, takeaway owner, and of course myself! :xmassmile

Persistence and challenging pays.......;) No more letters, no more threats..and of course they haven't produced a contract.....

Well Marleyboy, I have asked them and they said that they have heard no more from PRS. So it looks like that's it. Basically, the takeaway insisted on a contract, PRS didn't give one, and won't, so no contract no money. Appears to be end of! They followed the great advice on here relayed by me, and it paid off. However any future developments and I will post!

Hope this thread could help others as well.

Free takeaway voucher? !!! Ha!!:D I actually do wish I could do this for you...merry xmas marleyboy! But wait, hey you could use your leftover turkey and make your own sweet and sour ... here's some trade secrets...but its just for you! ;)

SWEET AND SOUR TURKEY IN BATTER
Make your batter, either packet or from scratch, add to your batter mix about teaspoon of custard powder this help the batter stay crispy and gives a nice flavour. Make your batter thick, so it coats well.
dip your cooked turkey chunks in batter, (cut them to about the size of a mini scotch egg). Deep fry them as you would for scampi in batter or the like, when they are nicely cooked, Keep them warm, and make your sauce...

    SAUCE
Put into a saucepan, a cup of water, 3 tablespoons tomato ketchup, 2 or 3 tablespoons of orange juice (pure) 1 tablespoon vinegar, a quartered tomato, and some pieces of pineapple, bring to the boil and simmer, constantly checking for the right consistency, adding more water if required, and tasting, when you think it is tasting just right, pour over your balls....(cue the theme tune to 'casualty'!!) :D err battered turkey chunks!! I mean......and enjoy! Can serve with rice or chips...! How to make fried rice, by the way, use a quantity of boiled rice, mix with beaten egg and soy sauce and tiny pieces (rings) of spring onion, and fry it in a wok, mmm delicious....

Let me know if you use this and whether you liked it! Oh and if you want to make it Hong Kong Style then coat with thinner batter, add onions and peppers to the sauce (stir fry these first) before adding...
