Hate to say this but BMI is not really much of an indicator of anything - according to research. Just an exercise in division...
Mine has been as low as 19 - but I still "looked fine" - how healthy or fit I was is a different matter. I still weighed 9 stone but was classed as underweight.
Equally, I underwent a fitness assessment for tha Ambulance Service - I passed it with flying colours but my weight was out of the range for my height (lower) - and yet the computer printout told me that I should be careful to watch what I was eating. It was only programmed to understand overweight
They ARE all just numbers - I would say the most important ones are your body fat percentage and pulse - or more importantly the time it takes to return to normal after exertion.0 -

I agree... I don't pay much attention to my weight in numbers (unless it dropped/increased massively, then I'd be bothered!) but I do notice my physical fitness. I'm quite slim but possibly the least fit person in the history of sport. I despise exercise and find it dull and repetitive. I've just discovered pilates which I love and I do like to dance! So hopefully my fitness will start improving.0 -
Tis true - says my fella should be about 14st. He's 6ft 4 and built like a tank - does need to lose some weight at 20st but not that much.
I am at the lower end of the scale for my height at 19.7 but I am healthy and toned through lots of exercise.
I think if I weighed any more I would look wrong as am I very slightly built.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
Oh me too with the Pilates - I use it (them?) for toning and core-strengthening; also with a slight meditative and calming focus I find. For cardio/stamina - I cycle and jog (no way is it anything like running) - both off-road in any local unexplored countryside. Even when I did ride daily, I never considered it to have any aerobic value but great for posture and toning of the lower half - the mucking out and barrow emptying worked on the top half; I will soon have that to do again after this beastly summer. I would so love to get into some kind of dancing - preferably salsa (XH was into ballroom, bit too stuffy for me).
Just also joined local independent gym - there are v few female members but a ladies only part fully equipped with some super equipment. Each time, I have been the only one there so it's like having my own gym.
Oh - and Powerplates!!! Wonderful, magical invention..
I'm going on - and taking the thread off-topic and into me-me-me territory. *slaps hands away from keyboard*0 -

not good! I'm through with my skinny boy phase - thank god for real men that make you feel all dinky even on 'fat' days, can carry you plus six bags of shopping and pop the lids off jars with ease.
But 20st, yes, he is more than double my weight which can cause problems..ahem.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
