    He Knows No Winter
    He knows no winter, he who loves the soil,
    For, stormy days, when he is free from toil,
    He plans his summer crops, selects his seeds
    From bright-paged catalogues for garden needs.
    When looking out upon frost-silvered fields,
    He visualizes autumn's golden yields;
    He sees in snow and sleet and icy rain
    Precious moisture for his early grain;
    He hears spring-heralds in the storm's ' turmoil!
    He knows no winter, he who loves the soil.

  • I've just got some fabby bargains for my hampers from Au Naturale:
    • 3 x pink & 3 x blue metal containers and one pink and one blue metal mini watering can @ 40p each (reduced from £3 each) total - £3.20. I'm going to put three packets of herbs with those to give as two herb planter giftsets. I want to get some sticky letters to spell out the herbs that I'll give but not sure where to get those.
    • A small willow basket with a check liner @ 40p (reduced from £3) which I'll use to hold some homebaked goodies.
    • A dark grey box suitable for making into a mens hamper of goodies @36p (reduced from £5)
    • 2 x bundles of three flannels (2 x white and 1 x beige in each) @ 40p each (reduced from £2.50)
    • 1 x pair of toweling wash mitts (1 x white and 1 x beige) @ 40p reduced from £2.50
    I'll put two beige flannels and a white one plus the beige wash mitt in the man hamper and then buy some pretty soaps to finish that one off and the white flannels and mitt have gone into my bathroom as I needed new anyway.

    So my little trip today cost a grand total of £5.16 and has providced the bulk of 4 gifts. My 'saving' is £34.44 - although I wouldn't have bought the stuff at full price! Bargain! :T

    Just had a look and really I'm after easy 'one line' sort of quotes so I can put each one on a piece of paper to be taken out of the jar each day.
    Can't seem to find one that does that number but maybe if I try a general 'quotes' site there might be enough.

    You can search the above site for events which happened on this day for any date - eg births, deaths, events in the news ...
