rainmac - sounds like a lovely idea but I couldn't view it in the format on the link............... Maybe just as well............I'd only want to have a go at doing one and my list so far of 'stuff to do' is

finish off pickled bums (and they are very fiddly - just doing one jar for grandson)
finish off door hangers - last time I asked OH he gave deep sigh and started to stuff the chicken.........lol
stuff socks with something smelly -need to get socks first
cobweb chaser -gardening glove on a pole
    journal jar
Everyday survival kits for best friend, grandchildren, one son (the other already had one)
scrapbook for grandson of family events this year -still haven't got scrapbook
Handpbag pegs -need to paint the pegs and get some embellishments
    snowman soup for grandson
retro sweetbox for son (been on about it since grandkids had theirs!)

    Oh eck.................... I'll be having nightmares !!
and to think I was going to have christmas all wrapped up by the end of august..............!!

As far as I know they are basic CD cases. To avoid any suspicion from the OH from me routing round our CDs to find a couple of spare cases I have ordered some from ebay ;)

Mary, the desk calendar file is in Excel. I've saved it but have no idea how I could turn that into an image for you to view without asking the OH and then he'd see the calendar I'm going to make for him! If anyone else can help please do!

I went on a lovely but stressful shopping trip to Ikea yesterday with my two boys (OH been away for a lads weekend). I bought fleece blankets for the boys to make no sew blankets, lots of different sized jars for bath salts, sweetie jars and for 365 facts. Also got some mugs to do hot choc in mug etc.

My list of 'things still to do' is quite long:
Write simple chocolate recipes on cards
Fill sweets jars x 2 and smaller ones for boys x 2
    Fill sweets caddies x 3
Make lemon bath salt jars x 3 & flannel cupcakes or reindeer
Make chocolate bath salts x 3
    Make 365 fact jars x 2
Make cross stitch coasters x 4
Make some handmade sweets - fudge and turkish delight. Never made either but would like to give it a go.
Make handprint picture and poem on canvas
Make no sew blankets x 2
    Make mini scrapbook x 2/3
Oriental cross stitch picture for Chinese hamper
Flower lady cross stitch picture (loads of beads to sew on this one – dreading it  )
Desk calendar in CD case x 2/3
Photo calendar for wall x 5 – got calendars, need to sort out photos and get them developed.
Xmas cards to make – some cross stitched, some general paper crafting, some photo?

And that doesn't include any of the baskets, other pressies I am putting together. Have I bitten off more than I can chew? Yep probably, but it's fun isn't it :rotfl:

I guess a lot of the things can’t be done too far in advance – bath salts & sweet caddies/jars.

I've probably forgotten things here and there will be other things that get added to this board that I think, ohhh, I could do that ;)

Just seen some lovely decorated wooden coat hangers on the Prima site they would make a lovely gift. Anyone know where I can get wooden hangers cheap as I might make them with our youth club girls so I would need 80+.

IKEA sell wooden coat hangers. You would probably get them free for the youth club if your write to them. I know we got loads of free wooden picture frames from them for a youth club event run in my area a few years ago.

cookiedough - for my sons (expect I'll do much the same for the rest) I did
Tissue - for tears of joy or sadness
Paper clip(or string) - to hold things together when you think they're falling apart
Coin - so you can never say you're 'broke'
Straw - for when you think 'this is the last straw'
Button - to remind you that sometimes its best to'button your lip'
Smiley face - smiling is contagious - smile every day & it will be returned
Cut out Heart - to remind you that you are always loved no matter what
Pencil - to write down all your blessings when you think you have none
Coffee in sachet (with picture of cup of coffee from 'coffee art') to help you unwind at the end of the day
Musical note - music is good for the soul......relax as you drink your coffee and read your blessings

There's loads on one of the web sites......supposed to be for different people but really a lot are much the same or can be adapted.

Found some labels as well on www.KitchenMixGifts.com and printed them out to put on the box.

rainmac - how on earth are you going to get that lot done ????? Crikey I'd be having a nervous breakdown. Just seen yet another idea on the 'gifts in a jar' thread.........so thats another thing to do............lol
