While it's very useful to be able to compare the value of points using this table, I think it's also important to bear in mind the rate at which points are gained. For instance, Boots points are acquired at 4 points to the pound, whereas if you only get 1 point per pound with other cards, this makes the Boots points effectively worth 4 times as much.

I know you can't take into account special deals etc., but if we could add an average 'points gained per pound' score, it would make interesting reading. Martin, perhaps you could periodically edit the first post with details as people add them below?

that's a very useful table, thanks Martin

Of course many things come in to the "points and value" equation - like convenience of collecting etc etc. But I think its helpful to know the actual values - e.g. if I was considering travelling a couple of miles or so in order to take advantage of nectar points on petrol I can now think about that in terms of what it will cost me versus the eventual gain.

;D I got lucky with frequent flyer miles... Back in 1988 We used Northwest Airlines to fly to the USA. Took out the frequent flyer cards for free. IN 1992 We flew to Africa KLM, then KLM merged with Northwest and all our points got amalgamated and a huge bonus. A few more flights later and they partnered with Air France. more bonus, To cut a long story short We found we had 80,000 points each and harldy flew that airline. Deal 25000, return trip to Atlanta in October. So USA here we come for free in half term! And still points left.

Moral of the story? Keep your points check them regularly and see what deals are about, you never know

Hi,

I've got almost £40 worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers, and when I recevied them, I got a load of leaflets through with it saying that I could use them at various places (hotels / days out etc) at 4x their value.

Can anyone tell me what the best way to spend these would be - is it just getting £40 off my next load of shopping, or is it worth changing them into hotel vouchers or something? Has anyone tried any of these offers?

Try and use the tesco vouchers for something else rather than in store as they are worth far more.

Me and the other half had £40 worth like you and bought 2x Annual passes for Unlimited Admission to the Tussauds attractions (Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Chessington etc)

They are £80 normally each.

Restaurants - such as Bella Italia looks a good bet - spend vouchers on food only - £40 gives you £160 worth
