I reckon it's better to collect Air miles, because you can do it at Tesco and with NatWest, rather than collecting Nectar points at Sainsburys, which is more expensive. It seems to be cheaper as well, you dont have to spend as much money to be able to afford a flight or holiday.

I tried phoning the Nectar-Ebooker phone line and I couldn't get through for ages and when I did it was somewhere in India and they couldn't deal with my request because they didn't understand English too well!

Im not sure though which is the best loyalty scheme to collect points for holidays. I had a quick look and there were at least 3 (Air miles, Nectar and Buy and Fly!). Has anyone had any experience with these and know which is best?
  • We've just been informed that Total Garages in Kent are withdrawing the TOP points scheme (points given for petrol then when you have enough you can redeem a M&S or Boots voucher). Can anyone recommend another garage that offers a reasonable loyalty scheme instead?

    Thanks very much.

I use Shell Plus points where 1 litre = 1 point.

1,500 Shell pluspoints = £10 shopping voucher that can be redeemed for £10 vouchers for the following stores: Boots, House of Fraser, Halfords, WHSmith, JJB Sports, NEXT, Debenhams, The Kingfisher gift voucher (which can be used at MVC, B&Q, Big W, Woolworths and Comet).

    OR £10 Shell fuel voucher
OR 100 AirMiles or BA Miles
    OR £10 Donation to charity

I don't claim it's the best as Morrisons (see below) or Tesco maybe better. I use Shell as I pass 2 of their stations on the way to work everyday.

If there is a Morrisons nearby and you have a Morrisons Miles Card you can collect points to earn a £5 shopping voucher.

Earn up to 15 Morrisons Miles with every litre of fuel you purchase. Once you’ve collected 4995 miles on a single card, by purchasing 333 litres of fuel, there'll give you a £5 shopping voucher to spend in-store.

  • What's the best way to get the most out of nectar points?? I've been collecting them for years, and got almost 40,000!.
So I think it's probably time to spend them, but I want to get the most out of my points. And I'm confused....
What do you suggest? I would consider a holiday or whatever else is worth it? I'm looking forward to hearing canny suggestions from fellow moneysavers. (BTW, I don't have kids)
    Cheers,

I'm not sure what the best way to spend Nectar points is (I use the Clubcard mainly) but had a quick look on Ebookers and to fly with Virgin or BA to New York in Jan takes 25200 points per person. There is also an online catalogue to look through. http://www.nectar.com/NectarHomeForward.nectar

i had a targeted set of vouchers from Boots last week and in the small print at the bottom of the letter is states points not available on phone top ups, this must be new because i always top up when there are triple points.
  • Just got the note about Moneysupermarket offering 6000 bonus nectar points when signing up via them! I applied direct via a Nectar email, and only got 2000 back in the summer. I just gave them a call to tell them how unhappy I was about the fact people are now being offered better sign up bonuses, and, after a couple of minutes on hold, somone from the loyalty team offered to match it and add another 4000 points onto my account :)

Thank you Martin :) Still got another 22000 points on the account which I have no idea what I will buy - but another 4000 is more than welcome - could be idea for some xmas cheer!

    Merry Xmas!
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

I used to work at Sainsburys, unless its changed 250 points = £1, I think (is this still correct?). You are probably better off contacting nectar and asking them for a current points brochure. 40,000 is an achievement, well done.

Am now really really trying!! Getting refund from National Express is certainly helping, plus am doing shifts at my old employers to get another £100 a month! THIS IS MY YEAR!!!
