Confession Time!

During our debt free journey's I reckon most of us have had the odd "lapse" so this is like a confessional box where all your sins can be repented (or just laughed at by us) ;)

With all the stresses of becoming debt free I thought this would be a bit light hearted and might put a few smiles back on peoples faces!

I guess I should start off!

My worst moment of madness was spending nearly £60 on car mats! I don't even own a car! (only kidding ;) )

I had perfectly adequate ones in the first place and to this day I'm still not sure why I bought them! All there good for is wiping the c**p of your feet on them!

£60 on car mats!! Oh dear! Oh well, I spent £40 on a pole dance kit for Hubby for today, does that count?

is hubby doing the pole dancing or are you?

I don't think i can bring myself to confess my sins. Let's just say I overspent on clothes this month, knew i was doing it and didn't care (until the next day when i thought of all the money that should have gone on the credit cards)
    Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94
    Current debt: £14,000.00
    Debt free date: June 2008
  • Got very very drunk last week and ended up in a cab which cost me £15 except I have no recollection of where I went in it whatsoever. In addition I lost a bag with some work shoes in (I change when I get there) and ended up coming in with only one shoe on - so 2 pairs in total! So annoyed.

eurgh, I know my OH occasionally goes on this too and I haven't dared tell him yet as I smacked his wrist for not telling me about the debt on his Halifax card. I overspent by £120. But I'm working on paying it back into the account over the next few months.

Spent £75 the other sat on going out, and £50 last sat - I have spent a bit on my credit card, and I know this will be paid off immediately each month, but even so, I feel I'm getting used to spending on plastic again - so pretty annoyed with myself!! Also bought jeans and a top which I know I'll never wear until I lose weight, so I should just take them back, but havent yet!!

    Ooops!!

Southernscouser, I think about you and the car mats every now and again! If I think of buying something expensive that I totally don't need I instantly think, "its like the car mats!" and that gets me laughing and then I realise I don't want whatever it was after all! So thank you :)

As to my confessions, I did spend £60 on one of those really comfy ikea chairs a few weeks ago. You know, the ones with bendy wooden frames? Just me that knows what I'm talking about? :rotfl: But, in my defence, I previously didn't have anything to sit on except a school-style plastic chair (sh*tty student landlords!!). Also, I did buy nothing much for a few weeks to fit it into my budget.

So pretty rubbish as a confession :rotfl:

Shall I go and buy something extravagant and expensive to enable me to properly participate in this thread? :rotfl: *please say yes, please say yes*

I know this isn't very sympathetic, but that is the funniest thing I've heard in ages. It more than made up for my lack of valentines this morning!:rotfl:

My confession for this week? I'm going away for the weekend and forgot to book my train tickets. Instead of the £9 each way I was going to get I'm now having to pay £58 return, and pay for my hotel room as the friend I was sharing with backed out :(

Ms_London I just wanted to share your pain and let you know that I think going out in London, (no matter how fantastic) is 100% scandalous. I went to my best friend's birthday last month and other people (obviously richer or oblivious) were buying her these champagne cocktails at £8 a go - and I swear there was about 3 mouthfuls of drink in each glass.

Maybe we should set up some bars across the nation that are BYO - and everyone can still get dressed up and have a good time but just come armed with their own booze, (homemade or otherwise)! Guilt free socialising and no nasty receipts the next day!! :D
