Hi all
The Flylady challenge thread has grown quite long (over 1600 posts) so I thought it would be a good idea to start "Take 4".
If you need to check back "Take 3" is here:- Flylady Challenge - Take 3
But otherwise by all means join this new and squeaky clean thread....

Hi all
Hi I'm Dizzy! (That's Diana Liz)
Will take this new thread as an opportunity to start posting my days as you guys do.
I am a married full time mum of three boys the youngest is now at school. So have a good few hours at home now to get all those jobs done I've been avoiding. Our house is on the small side for us and we wanted to completely modernise and decorate we have done so but had so many problems with trademan along the way that we fell out of love with the house and have lacked motivation to get all those finishing touches done. We also have no family around to help with childcare or anything so with three rowdy boys around at weekends and evenings it is easier to put off. We are naturally disorganised too although I hate being disorganised and long to be organised.
However, the flylady point that we got into this mess by being perfectionist rings true with me. I have always been like that I was like it at University striving for a standard too high for me to achieve which caused me to mess up and not get the degree result I should have. I was also like it with my weight struggling to keep flyweight and then giving up and piling it on. Also like it with my home. I want it perfect but as that's impossible my confidence has diminished particularly over the last 10 years since I have been a stay home mum.
On a positive note though this year I have turned things around. I knew my youngest was starting school and I would like to go back to work so I had to change. I felt physically and emotionally terrible and overwhelmed entirely by life and my home. I decided I would sort things out. I started the Cambridge diet and have lost 4 stone and am feeling and (dare I say it!) looking fab.
This week I started the fly lady challenge and another transformation is taking place. The house is looking fab and also it has been reassurance that actually I wasn't doing too bad anyway. Things just seemed to need to be pulled together. Lots of the emails that come in I delete straight away as I have already done them. It is motivational to read all your posts and makes me feel less alone. Most of my friends seem to keep perfect homes so naturally or if they don't are relaxed about it. I was mortified at the thought of my house not being tidy especially when visitors turn up.
I still have clutter to dispose of. I have lots of stuff in boxes and bags to ebay or rehome some how. I also need to make a list of all the finishing off jobs in the house so we can tackle them. In general though all the cleaning tasks are pretty up to date.
I must stop writing now as things to do as I'm sure you all do too.
But just wanted to say hi properly and thanks for letting me join you all.

Hi Dizzy :hello:
Welcome. you'll find lots of support here. It comes in to its own when you have a bad day. Everyone rallies and brings you back up and you find that you are back 'in the saddle' before you know it
Much as I try to keep it all sensible and sane and on topic, a few of the Flybabes seem to want to chat and joke around. Ok if you like that sort of thing, but I don't hold with it
welcome, once again

Welcome, Dizzy! You'll enjoy it here, but keep any baking away from TNG. And if he invites you for a meal, avoid anything from the slowcooker.......
I'm not in the mood for Flying today, so sitting here surfing. Will go and do some paperwork later.
TNG, did you mention some time ago that you were going to show us your to-do list for today?

Welcome Dizzy,
I'm also new here. have been at home this week but back to school next week so won't be able to post so much.
I understand all you say about trying to cope with house, kids, weight...well done on the weight loss
For many years that was me , 3 kids, house to renovate, job to hold down and a feeling of being overwelmed.
..kids have now grown up, have moved house twice and remarried a marvelous guy who is so supprotive. Trouble is house is still not how I want it...or perhaps the problem is I'm not sure what I want. maybe thats the secret, I need to know what I want.....job, money to spend and chaotic life or be at home, no spare money and to be organised at home living the OS way.
You seem to have made some decisions...hope it all works out for you
Anyway must fly and shine that sink!We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Thanks vivw and welcome to you too.
You are right decision making is also a big issue for me and my hubbie come to that!
Have a good day shining that sink. (Although it seems a bit silly at first it has made a big difference concentrating on the sink I thought it was a bit OCD polishing and drying it but it really makes a difference do you find that too?)
