Debt Diaries!

We've had this discussion before but, are there too many of them?
I personally think there are (and yes I know I'm as guilty as anyone)
I know Martin likes them and wants to keep them where they are, but what do others think?
I'm particularly interested in hearing what the newcomers to the board think? Are the 'essential' threads asking for advice disappearing too quickly of the front pages for them to get a decent response?

I want them to stay on here, I really feel the debt diaries 'belong' on this board and I would probably not read them much if they were moved elsewhere. I find them very motivating and supportive which represents what we want this board to be.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0

I agree with the maccas. I think many newbies find the diaries informative and motivating. The current mix is good.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I rarely read them anymore and don't update mine. I would prefer a blog style but doesn't seem to be a big thing amongst the DFWs.OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

I know still being a relative newbie myself that I find them informative and reassuring... kind of like a provenance that people on the board have been there and seen everything AND they're winning, if you know what I mean?
There again I also started my own, and in my particular case it was maybe pretty selfish, I just wanted somewhere to keep track - from that point of view - I could do it anywhere on the boards though.
I understand your viewpoint, was wondering if it might instead be an option to campaign for 40 threads a page or something? Another board I moderate has something like that and it keeps things turning over well.0 -

As I see it any one coming to these forums for the first time has the same rights to post their debt diaries and share their day as those asking for advice etc.
It only takes a few moments to go through a couple of pages of threads if you are looking for something else.
What these pages must not become is a "closed shop " of a few posters who spend long periods on here and dictate which way the boards should be run to the detriment of new posters.

Clara, I don't think it's selfish to start your own thread, noone has to read it if they don't want to!
Like you, I started one to keep track. If others read it and offer support and advice that's brilliant and really appreciated, but even if not it's still worth doing.
Keep up the diary and best of luck with beating the debtsTotal debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I actually like and enjoy reading the diaries especially dizzy's, they make me laugh. To know that other people are having the same thoughts as me is sometimes reassuring and sometimes worrying!!!!0

I love the diaries

All our interest was frozen ages ago, we're paying everything off at a monthly amount that WE decided, not what the creditors say
to them
So we have no worries and I don't feel a need to start a diary for us.
But the diaries keep me motivated and sometimes give me new ideas. There's a lot of them though. They need their own sub-board I reckon.Bulletproof0 -
Hi, I've been lurking awhile, and like the debt diaries, but perhaps they could be a sub board?"Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first woman she meets and then teams up with three complete stangers to kill again."-- TV listing for the movie, The Wizard of Oz,0
