    DHL are changing their volumetric formula from L x W x H / 6000 to L x W x H/ 5000, this will obviously only affect those relatively light bulky items.

This is only for international shipmens isn't?

After initial few deliveries I am now downgrading DPD to "highly unimpressed". One of the "features" that initially got my attention is inabilty of the website to figure out what current date is. As simple bit code as it is it also means that with a simple accidental mouse scroll you can book your delivery for the morning of last month of few months ago. But fair enough, you just have to watch what you're doing on booking page and it's all ok.

    However.

After just four orders one of my packages got damaged by DHL this week, but I filled customer contact form (as FAQ suggested), in regular office hours and 24 hours later I still have nothing to tell my buyer. No sign of life from DPD. Not an email, not a phone call, not even an automatic set of instructions. Not a beep, not a thing.
    It's not looking good.
  • Sounds like DPD might be running close to capacity, certainly with there current set up. I would guess p4d's website and booking software is now pretty much a must.

    PPW Update
Had the insolvency and creditors report from the administrators today in the post. which included various reports including a pretty in depth one from I believe Paul Harrison. It says the at the crux of their demise was the fact other players in the industry had a lot to do with their increase and the fact it wasn't enforced on everyone. It also becomes apparent the Paul wanted out before they went and tried to see his stake, but that fell though once it became apparent they could no longer compete with p4d, interparcel or parcel2go, they filled for administration. Personally I also derive from it that they were rather hoodwinked in believing Shafi had more influence with DHL than he actually did, and that becoming involved with him was a mistake. Other things of note; the forum gets a mention, there office staff Dannielle and Charlotte are owed around £650 and that they still owe £13k+ for their website. The total they owe is probably close to £200k.

directparceldistribution are a complete waste of time. Been waiting over 5 days for parcels to be collected and keep getting told to just 'fill in a failed collection form'. They seem a very amateur set up (should have known by their website). They might be a bit cheaper but not worth the hassle.

Just discovered them on Wednesday. Booked a delivery to the USA via FedEx for £25.99, it's now out for delivery in Michigan. I would have paid about £90 via my own FedEx account.

Just booked a shipment to Finland for £24.99, again via FedEx. I would have paid around £55 with my TNT account.

As soon as you book the collection they email you the Fedex collection number, and any problems you can deal with FedEx direct. I also use my FedEx express shipper software to print out the AWB's and commercial invoices.

Direct Parcel Distribution? So far so good.
  • did you have to include postcodes toget quote? as thats pos reason why

It was not postcode - it was the size 140 cm which i had already filled in in the 'quick quote box". This incurred a £10 surcharge ONLY visible by clicking 'view details'.

    RIP OFF!!!

Very much our school of thinking. It's opened up new markets for us, and it's nice to be able to gain a little from exporting especially to the US, after sterling crashing cost us thousands buying stock. As I mentioned a page back or so FedEx customer services and delivery times are a fair bit better than DHL.
  • I visited "parcel to go", entered my package details: 18Kg 140x77x20 cms and got a range of prices shown. I chose the cheapest, £7.99 + Vat. (would have been £9.72 inc a small fuel surcharge I was aware of) "Great" I thought.... wrong!!

When I actually booked, there was a £10 + vat surcharge???!!! Total was £21.46!!!

Why was this not shown on the quote?? Apparently I hadn't pressed the "show details" button to see the REAL price.

It seems fundamentally dishonest to me to display a price, with NO mention of surcharges, and then 'hide' the real one behind a misnamed button. It wasn't even in the small print!!

Perhaps this button should be renamed "Show the REAL Price"??

Interparcel can show accurate prices up front, so why can't "Parcel to go"?? I wonder.....

Tell all your mates - P T GO prices cannot be trusted!!!

    FOLLOW UP

Once I spoke to someone (Leanne Willet) she was totally unsympathetic
Her - "It's not my fault you want to send an oversize parcel"
Me - "I typed in all my dimensions and £7.99 + VAT was shown"
Her - "you should have clicked another button to see the real price - we're not hiding anything"

What's the point in displaying a price after clicking "get quote" if it's not the actual price they're going to charge??

BEWARE!!!! Not nice people to do businesss with!!!

I think it's called protecting there business. Over size parcels can incur surcharges of up £50, and incidentally in PPW liquidation report this was one of their biggest headaches. Yes parcel2go have smaller volume limits than most.

Edit: The post above looks like retaliatory post to the remarks left in the 'are interparcel any good' thread. I little warning to you and parcel2go is if you clog up this thread with pointless marketing tittle tattle, you will be gone from all mention on the first post and any mention elsewhere by my self...even your TITAN service. As for parcel2go you'll go in the avoid section.

After reading some posters recent hassles with them I was unsure whether to use them to send a 2.5kg parcel to Italy but bit the bullet and gave it a go. I booked online last night at 9pm and the item was picked up at 11am this morning :D I was a bit surprised when a Fed Ex van turned up as I was expecting DHL but i'm not complaining. Hopefully, the parcel will get to Italy ok.
