There is really no or very little demand for either of these. Readers digests are particularly worthless, the best I ever got for them was selling 30kg of them on ebay (about 50 in total) and I only got £4.99 for them! Although these are the condensed 4in1 novels I'm talking about which are the bane of the booksellers life. Some of the higher quality RD publications can be worth a couple of quid, but these are quite rare and have to be in very good condition. As for the magazines, if these are the monthly RD mag that you'll always find in dentist & DR's waiting rooms at least you can put them in the recycling bins as their is few other ways to get rid of them and none profitably.

I buy boxes of mixed books at auction and the first thing I do when I get them is to go home via a charity shop and leave all my readers digest condensed books as I have never found any way of selling them. As rare stuff says the larger coffee table books do sometimes have a small value, but the weight of them probably makes them uneconomic for sale where they need to be posted as I had some that weighed over 2 kg, which is blooming heavy.

    Hi Ginga,

you might be able to shift the RD books at a boot sale depending on what they are ie the decorating, sewing and gardening type ones might go there.

    Good luck with them

well i sent emails to each of the buyers of my 3 pending sales, explaining that there was a problem with their order which could be due to an expired card etc and explained how to access their account to amend card details. i had one reply yesterday:

"SORRY ABOUT THE PAYMENT C!!K UP, I CLICKED ON MY OLD CARD. I HAVE NOW DELETED IT AND PUT MY NEW ONE ON.CAN YOU NOW CLAIM PAYMENT OR HAVE I GOT TO DO SOMTHING"

i did reply again stating what he had to do but no response and order still pending

i suppose i will just have to wait the 72 hours and wait for the 3 items to be relisted which is a bit annoying

I am so cross at myself....whilst rushing to get to the PO before they closed last week and to send books the same day they were ordered I managed to send the wrong book to the wrong person. I am so cross at myself.

One book has arrived at the puzzled buyer who wonders why he has a book called 'Act of God' when he wanted Leviathan (i'm sure there is a pun in there somewhere) and Leviathan appears not to have arrived anywhere yet.

Blast blast blast..I have contacted another seller to see if they will ship their copy of Act of God to my buyer, and if they say yes then I'll only be out of pocket by about £3 on that one. Leviathan though is another matter, the next decent copy from someone with good feedback is almost £3 so I will be well out of pocket if I buy that and ship it..bother bother bother. This all happened because I was trying to be efficient and run to the post office with 2 books bought late in the afternoon.

Just a thought Soolin, have you looked on Play.com? Alternatively, post the isbn here, maybe one of us has a copy not yet listed? I've got approx 2000 books in the garage at the moment waiting to be listed - I'd be happy to have a look so long as I know exactly what I am looking for (hb, sb, lg, sm etc).

    FFM :)

I will phrase this carefully as I don't want to appear rude or bolshy but as per my last post I had contacted a fellow seller about buying their book to ship to my customer. I explained the situation and chose a seller with good feedback and with a name that looked vaguely familiar. He/she was perfectly happy to oblige but before responding added another £1 to the cost of the book...apparently the small format paperback is 'heavy' . I have to admit to be slightly bemused especially as that makes the copy dearer than dozens of others now..so I have declined her offer and bought from another seller who is shipping it today for me at more than £1 less than the price the first seller requires.

FFM..thanks for the tip about Play..I always forget to check there.

Hi guys - I'm not really around much any more and selling on Amazon has taken a back seat so I'm sort of resigning from the thread so BGs please feel free to edit and add whatever you want to the opening posts I'm sure that there is lots that needs an update by now.

Sorry to hear that, AT. :(

Your contribution will be sadly missed. Hope you pop back in whenever you're able to.

Take care and thank you for all the advice and encouragement that you've offered to everybody on this thread.
