Help needed with Dubai

I am thinking about a trip to Dubai for 5 nights, leaving any London airport on or around 25 May for the long weekend.

I can see indirect flights with Gulf Air for about £250. The stopovers don't look bad but I would need to look at hotels separately.

Is it generally better to book a combined air and hotel package? If so, can anyone give me any ideas on good places to start looking?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Couple of threads here that might help:

Have fun - brilliant place to go.

We took flights with Swiss but KLM and Air France are quite reasonable too. We booked our hotel direct and got a decent price at the Oasis Beach Hotel. A regular visitor on of the threads suggested above said the cheapest way was to get one from the hotel desk thing at the airport, apparently he did it every time.

Try looking at Airline Network, we recently paid £680 each for 7 nights flying Emirates and staying 4* BB Towers Rotana, very central location. Lot of people recommend APEX holidays, best@travel or iglu.

    Hi.

I have just booked a holiday to dubai for 11 nights, 10 days in dubai. four of us travelling from Birmingham, flying with Emirates, staying at the jmeriah Beach hotel. children aged 9 and 5. we have been quoted 3170.00. wot do you think. is this too much. I chose jumeriah because it was the only hotel i could find that has entertainment for children. I may still have time to re-book the package, please advise.

    Thankyou

tbh I dont know much about hotels in the beach, but that price looks reasonable to me
hotel will cost 1500 for 11 nights
flights will work out at 1500ish too. So I would say its ok.

I stayed at the Oasis Beach Hotel, down the opposite end and make sure you get a sea view room but they did loads of activities for the kids, activities planned all day. I booked direct and got a very good deal.

A well travelled friend of mine came back from here yesterday and said it was a fab hotel with everything you need. Has a good position along the beach and is not as expensive as many of the others along there.

Also TBH I would get something a little closer to the city, as your expenses out in Jumeriah will be high. Its kinda like bieing in the middle of nowhere. To get cheap food etc you will need to get a cab into town, which will cost a bit.
