That's true, if (or when!)I go again I will stay somewhere more central as easier for getting about and even though the taxi's aren't expensive all our big journeys were going in and out of the centre.khizman wrote:Also TBH I would get something a little closer to the city, as your expenses out in Jumeriah will be high. Its kinda like bieing in the middle of nowhere. To get cheap food etc you will need to get a cab into town, which will cost a bit.2p off is still 2p off!0 -
I agree with the comments about location, we stayed on Sheik Zayed Road very central and we preferred the city, but we were 2 adults. At the JBH its very much geared towards kids, unlimited access to Wild Wadi (I think). In the city I think you would need a hotel with a beach arrangement or you could be paying £15 a day each for that. Food was a bit pricier in Jumeirah complex but not too bad, its the booze that does it. Near Jumeirah (cab) theres Mall of the Emirates, open till late and theres bistros and restraunts (good quality food cheaper than home) although not sure if you can get alcohol in Malls. Other activities i.e. desert safari would depend on when your going, can get to 50deg Jun/July. Hope that helps.0

Baps give these people a chance to quote you https://www.traveldubai.co.uk I got a good deal from them for this year I have 10nights = 11 full days for 4 adults staying at jumeirah beach hotel with breakfast. It's a great hotel been going for 8 years. Now my kids are teenagers so have to pay full fare for them but they still like to use wadi's that's why we haven't gone to other hotels. Still not too long now before they wont want to come with us
There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel that goes into the city and the malls so that helps cut the cost's of the taxi fares. Also check whether your quote was with premier lounge facility. This means that you can use there family lounge which has food and drinks free along with computer games for the children, but this is extra if you have not been quoted for this. Have a great time

Baps,
Just got back from the Jumeirah Beach Hotel last night. It was fantastic. I did not take the kids (11 & 7), but they would have loved it there. Comments above are all valid, but it depends what you are looking for. It is truly a 5 star hotel, so is not cheap, but you should have breakfast included in the price and it is sumptuous. The hotel provides free shuttles to 3 malls where you can get cheaper food. A taxi to the city costs £5 to £7 each way. You do get free access to Wild Wadi water park and entry 1 hour before the masses, so you are guaranteed sunbeds and can do a load of rides without any queues! If you look at other hotels in Jumeirah, you can expect to be amongst the largest building site you have ever seen. We would not consider staying anywhere else. Can not recommend it highly enough. Price seems good.
Lots of trips you can do, the best tour company is Arabian Adventures, http://www.arabian-adventures.com/
they offer most of the trips that are available.
If you like a glass of wine, take some with you as it is very pricey in Dubai hotels and restaurants and there are no off-licences or shops where you can buy alcohol.
If you want any further info please let me know.0 -
Also would recommend the Big Bus tour and the free walking tour they do. http://www.bigbus.co.uk/dub/html/dub_our_tours.html0

As the price of 'a pint' is the universal currency of value, can someone tell me what the cost is in Dubai, please?Filiss0

Obviously depends where you go, but expect to pay upwards of £6 for a drink. Cocktails are sometimes the cheapest drinks! e.g in one restaurant cocktails where £6.20, beer £7 and wine £8 (per glass).0

When you e-mail them about your booking ask them for their best price and they should shave a bit off it. 2p off is still 2p off!0
