as per my previous posts, barclays sell their tax haven isa as an instant access cash isa.
this is clearly not the case you cannot move money around online, you have to go into a branch who have to fax off instructions to central isa dept in liverpool to eventually transfer the money in my case taking 6 days to do so, again this is not "instant"
they are misselling this product in their own terms and conditions it clearly states point 2.2 that you can pay cash into your isa at any branch, tried it as have numerous others and you are not permitted to do this.
this was one of many numerous points i raised in my letter of complaint to barclays dated 8th may to which they replied to within their 5 banking day timescale, saying it had been passed to a manager and i would get a reply by "no later than 05th JUNE" thus gaining them more time!!0 -
There are many who'd disagree with you as far as Nationwide's ISA is concerned, e.g. this thread.
The difference with me is I have had my Nationwide ISA for years so I am not trying to open a new one.
I set up a standing order and paid money in each month from my bank account. None of this go into the branch rubbish. Barclays seems to love form filling, I thought we had left all this behind.0 -

Instant access means you can access the money at anytime. Nothing to do with depositing.0 -

Transferring out to a fixed rate ISA (assuming that's what you mean by FR)?
If so, have you found a fixed rate one which accepts transfers in? I've been looking but not been successful yet. Would love to know if there is one as I want to move last year's Barclays Tax Beater ISA now the bonus has gone and don't really want to put it in my Abbey ISA (yet another story!!!!!).0 -

Barclay's are becoming the £10 give away. They just 'lost' my cheque in clearing and offered me £10 compensation, didn't want to listen to the issues about no interest from day of opening account and funds being cleared.
The Tax Haven ISA should be avoided. You WILL loose 14 days interest as a minimum and have trouble crediting your account. :mad:0 -
Despite opening my account on 29th March; despite being told in branch that interest would be backdated; despite hearing a recorded message that said interest would be backdated, they finally opened my account over 28 days later, and have confirmed that interest will be paid 15 days from when I went in branch to open the account.
So I've lost a week's worth of interest. Admittedly, it's only £4-5, but the point is that it was promised and now they've rescinded on that.
I'm not at all happy with Barclays. Certainly won't bother with them if they do a good deal next year.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
as I expected. Just rang them to tell them I want to cancel it and they said because its in process it can't be cancelled.
She also said they are supposedly near the end of the applications backlog so it should be done "within the next week".
as soon as its opened im just going to transfer it to icesave along with my others as it will probably take them 6 months to do that at this rate so im not leaving it till near next april.0 -
Opened Tax Haven ISA with Bclys advisor in Branch as did not already have a Bclys Account on 22 April. Was told there was a delay but 'Date Account Opened' would be as of 22/4. Finally received 'Welcome Pack' and 'Date Opened is quoted at 19 May. Like many others had to write a cheque (how old fashioned was that?) money still sat (as of today 24th May) in current account collecting interest a rate not worth mentioning! Will be complaining to Bclys on Tuesday after Bank Holiday.0
