    Hi Dunscrimpin

It is the blue tab with Martin's face on it, just below your current tariff details.

EDF fix is about £130 pa more than the deals I've already lined up with Iresa and Better Energy -its comparable with EON V7 which I could have moved on to, if I stayed with EON:(

There are probably a lot of reasons why the smaller companies are able to offer lower prices. They may just be operating at a loss to build market share.

Sterling falling, energy prices rising and ofgem are going to put an end to cheap deals sooner rather than later.

The energy companies know we'll switch at the end of the year anyway. So the collective deals are now aimed at those on standard tariffs, who have heard how these collective deals are such great value. So they'll go from blindly paying their incumbent supplier for years, to blindly paying the collective provider.

Just cross your fingers that Iresa will still be here & that there will still be companies trying to build market share in the future.

Expecting the usual 'razzmataz' in tomorrows weekly MSE e mail re the collective offer. But for most it seems there are cheaper offers elsewhere.
Appears the Big 6 are more out of sync with the smaller providers than ever before.
Only hope the smaller providers have a sensible business model that enables them to survive.

I've taken a gamble that the OFGEN "supplier of last resort" holds in the case of supplier failure -and that the tariffs will be honoured as happened with GB Energy.:)
  • Wow is that really it - what a disappointment!

Why is it not coming up as the best deal available - i couldn't even find it to begin with - hardly describe it as "super cheap"

    Sorry to sound ungrateful
  • Eon is cheaper for me - and is ticked as a top pick

Can anyone explain why it is listed below EDF?

I have my collective quote from EDF AND IT IS £1364 pa (£114 pm)

However my individual quote from IRESA (assuming they take on NE Scotland customers?) is for £1256 pa - (£105 pm) (No cash back) and no exit fee.

    Both are fixed tariffs.

So why should I join the collective when the IRESA quote is £108 cheaper, or £78 cheaper after cash back. ??

Is it the safety? of a big 6 or the quality of service / reviews I should be considering?

    Confused? I certainly am.

I go on price. Now that Ofgem has brought in consumer protection then there is little to worry about imho.

  • I too am on the BG Feb 2017 Fix. I live in Wales, so have been awaiting notification of the possible cheaper collective fix for Scotland and Wales mentioned in last week's MSE email. Sure enough, this week's email talks of an 'EDF super-cheap duel fuel only deal'. It states that the EDF deal is the 'cheapest tariff on typical use in those regions [i.e. Scotland & Wales] after Iresa.

However, when confirming my details in the MSE Energy Club, only the Iresa deal shows. This is followed by the Scottishpower online fixed price energy June 2018 v2 tariff, which is only marginally more expensive than the Iresa deal and has better customer satisfaction feedback.

I've opted for that, given MSE's 'health warning' concerning Iresa, but am mystified as to why EDF's offering isn't showing on MSE Energy Club, given I have a Welsh postcode. Can anyone enlighten me as to how I might acces details of this deal whilst I'm still in the 14 day right to cancel period with Scottishpower? Or perhaps there's an explanation as to why I've been excluded from the EDF offer? Many thanks all.
