I did notice some places were putting up signs that they didn't accept restaurant.com codes....might be something that has annoyed several retailers and made them cut all ties.

Groupon-wise I used Primeburger, Fatburger and Jimmy's Seaside Fries in Bally's. All were happy to accept them. For the firing range I bought one for Green Valley Range in Henderson (around the corner from where I redeemed my Fatburger at Green Valley Ranch!)

How did you find Prime burger? I have one for there too :) Thanks for the update Lesley. I'm hoping they hurry up and refund us for our Groupons if it's closed! At least Restaurant.com let you know when this happens.

If this is your first visit - then IMO don't plan too much in advance - we found the heat tiring first time round and it might be that the day you have arranged something like the canyon vist that you will be knackered.
To each their own - hope you have a grat time - we found the vegas forum on tripadvisor a font of knowledge in addition to here.

They were great. Really nice people and for two vegetarians like us the Vegan burger was awesome and I just had a side of blue cheese fries which was as big as a main course. Nicely priced considering they're in the Venetian where they could easily charge more.

I got a reply - something along the lines of 'thanks for informing us, we're now working with the client. Let us know if there's anything we can do meanwhile'. erm refund me?

I've just had an email that they're refunding me in Groupon Bucks  I doubt there's anything else I want, so I may insist on my card being credited as they sold goods they cannot fulfill, so it's not our fault!

    Hiya Peeps

Back to reality after 2 weeks in Vegas (bbbooooooooo) Anyway, here is a bit of a travel report (complete with grumbles ;) )

    Ups -

The Venetian - the $20 trick got us a suite in the Venezia Tower. I don't think it was an upgraded room, so to speak, but it gave us a absolutely spot on view of the Strip. We were directly across from the Mirage view wise. It also worked out ok, as I tried to haggle on that stupid resort fee, and the room we were given should have been an extra $47 a night, and they let us have it for the standard $32 a night rate (still a rip off IMO, but I suppose it was better than nothing)

The High Roller at the Linq. did the night ride and it was fab. Obviously if you don't like heights, it's one to avoid, but it was spectacular. highly recommended.

Shopping - Got a passport booklet at the South Outlet, and saved a few bob. Skechers had a buy one pair get 50% off on trainers, and there was another 10% off with the booklet as well. Also got 3 pairs of Lee jeans at Vanity Fair for around £25.
Also, if you are considering going to Primm - they had in Calvin Klein, a 10% voucher deal for Tommy Hilfiger. Might be one to consider.

Gambling - Actually did ok with the slots. Won $100 with a full screen of wilds with Gremlins, and $200 on another machine with a full screen of symbols. Any spare money we won we spent on some clothes/gifts, so it worked out well.

In general, we had a good time, mainly pottered up and down the Strip, and had a couple of days out. One of the more chilled out Vegas holidays. :) Anyway, now the grumbles.

The Begging on the walkways - Is it me, or does there seem to be more of it now? I don't mind giving a few pennies, but it seemed like there were more and more folk just begging (or banging on buckets with sticks). We didn't get intimidated or anything, but it did get a bit uncomfortable when you saw people begging while guzzling beer.

Shopping - well, people constantly trying to flog you stuff. Avoid the shop 'Buckle' in the Fashion Mall. I went in for a look and was besieged by assistants. One of them managed to get my name out of me, then got my size wrong, then tried to flog me skinny jeans, which I hate (apparently I must like those because I was wearing carpi shorts!! (eh?) ) Then another came running up with a load of t-shirts that they thought I'd like and then tried to force a load of jeans on me that were way too long and wanted to guide me to the changing rooms.
I couldn't even sneak out, it was practically a run, and they still caught me going out of the door. You know when you've just had a surreal experience and you are so bewildered that you just need to go an lie down?......

DH got food poisoning. Spent 4 days in the bog. Poor thing. Walgreens suggested some rehydration drink that helped. But he was nearly in tears. We think it might have been a dodgy bottle of beer in a casino. But he was rather ill. One of those things

Couldn't find any Peeps in Walmart - BAH!!

Vegas in general - Don't get me wrong, we had a great time, but it seems like it's lost some of it's charm. I think it's because the first time we went in 2001, there was still a lot of old Vegas there and now it's being replaced bit by bit by all this new stuff that seems to appeal to young 'uns.
BTW, can't American kids have a conversation without using the words 'like' 'basically' 'awesome' and 'totally'?? My IQ must have gone down 20 points listening to that tripe.

Finally. Thomas Cook. I hope I never have to deal with them again, and their free tea is lousy. (£2.60 for a decent cup of anything) And they charge £3 for headphones, and £3/£4 to watch anything decent on the TV's. Dunno if other airlines charge like that now, but it seems one heck of a rip off.

That's all for now. Jetlag is still kicking in a bit, but at least I can have a decent cuppa. ;)
