Nationwide are not covering themselves in glory over this, even though they could have made a huge amount of positive press for themselves from the demise of EBCU/DCU.
I am sure this whole debacle - the EBCU/DCU one as well as the Nationwide one - will in future figure as a case study of Business Schools and of Universities.0 -
Just to update mine has all gone through with Santander. It took three branch visits which was annoying as I don't live anywhere near a branch but it all got sorted in the end and £5 credited separately so my allowance for this year unaffected.
In the mean time though I have lost out on a better rate as all the higher paying ISAs seemed to have disappeared while I hung on to get my cheque paid in to my existing ISA.0 -
Check your e-mail and bank accounts. This morning I got an e-mail from a company called GoCardless to say on the 15th they will be taking a direct debit of £12 from both me and the other half for our membership of DotCon. I rang the bank, and the DD's are set up for next Monday.
These have now been cancelled

Just had a letter through from DotComUnity Centres thanking me for my continued membership and support, then asking me to consider purchasing some non-cumulative Preference "C" class member shares. A minimum investment of £25 is required and will pay up to 5% return. If you hold more than £500 "C" class shares you receive the additional benefit of FREE membership.
The letter also mentions that they will soon be announcing a range of new savings and loans products. There is another flyer to do with crowd-funding too.
Anyone else had this letter? I am surprised I am still considered to be a member as I didn't think I had any membership funds with them any more.

Yes I've had the same letter too, put it straight in the bin of course! I was also surprised they still class me as a member as I never paid to renew my membership.0

Yes I got the same letter. Straight in the shredder.
They are like Michael Myers in the Halloween series - you think they are dead and buried only to be proved wrong again and again.0 -
I haven't had the letter - may be they blacklisted me. I am inconsolable, lol.
It is astounding that these clowns should be allowed to take deposits again, after having effectively gone bust twice. What is the FCA registration number they are using now? 213820 is still in administration on the FCA Register.0 -
Thank you for your comments relating to DotComUnity.
DotComUnity is not and has never been a financial organisation.
DotComUnity is a social enterprise and membership organisation supporting communities throughout the UK.
2013, saw DotComUnity Membership approach and begin working with Enterprise The Business Credit Union (“EBCU”) to provide our Members with access to savings and low cost loans to combat financial exclusion. Unfortunately, DotComUnity Membership had licensed “EBCU” to promote themselves as DotComUnity Credit Union. With the failure of “EBCU”, DotComUnity Membership severed the agreement and continued the process of identifying alternative providers for our Members.
DotComUnity Credit Union was purely a trading name of “EBCU”.
DotComUnity Membership continues to grow, we continue to build our Membership and continue to offer new products and services through our Member Benefits platform.
If you no longer wish to be a DotComUnity Member, please contact us on 01202 611 367 or email membership@dotcu.org.uk and our Membership Team will cancel your Membership.“Official Company Representative

According to today's FCA Register,
- 'DotComUnity Credit Union' is a trading name of 'Enterprise The Business Credit Union Limited' which is in administration but continues to be authorised, but it is not authorised to take new deposits.
- The EBCU email address is creditunion@dotcu.org.uk - using the same domain as DotComUnity does for the email addresses published on their website
- The address of the EBCU registered office is exactly the same as the one DotComUnity publish for themselves on their website
It seems there is a very strong connection between DotComUnity and EBCU, at least as far as the FCA and PRA have been told.0 - 'DotComUnity Credit Union' is a trading name of 'Enterprise The Business Credit Union Limited' which is in administration but continues to be authorised, but it is not authorised to take new deposits.

It's also funny how the man from DCU was nowhere to be seen when we were all going through hell on here trying to get hold of our money..... Now he is back as if nothing had happened and wanting more hand outs... don't think anyone on this thread will be taking DCU up on this latest offer!
It is tempting though... buy some shares in an organisation that is flaky as hell, oh and you can't ever sell them. Hmm, let me think about that one!0
