Reclaim Sentinel Card Protection article discussion

I would also like to know how this affects the estate of people who have died. My wife died last year and she'd had Sentinel for a very long time ( probably pre 2000 ).
It would obviously be wrong for me to vote 'Yes' in May/June in her name.
I just called AI scheme after not finding any relevant information relating to the deceased on their website. I spoke to a helpful guy who took my details. He said I will receive a letter shortly which will give me relevant instructions on how to proceed on behalf of my wife's estate. This will involve sending a death certificate etc to them ( as I would have expected ).
So, executors can claim on behalf of the estate of a deceased account holder.0 -
renewal just received. Same premium as last year £39.95 Presumably ? the cover for which the potential reclaim/recompense is to be offered, is no longer there (can't see it anyway).
I still think the cover is worthwhile, though wonder that if I renew it (following their recent letter), it would adversely affect any possible payout/claim ?
Have others renewed ?0 -
My mum had sentential protection from the early 90's but in 2005 Halifax wrote to her to change ti to their own scheme with St Andrew's Membership Services Limited. Will see still be able to to claim? It was an automatic transfer unless she told them otherwise. thank you for any advice.0

Barclaycard were really helpful.Tattonlady
Hi tattonlady, can you tell me which phone number you rang Barclaycard on to claim for your pre2005 sentinel cover Thanks0 -
I was wondering this too as I have received one today for my late mum, was wondering as executor of her will if I could claim on her behalf?0

I phoned the number on Barclay card to start with, got through to an Indian call centre, the lady tried to be helpful, but hadn't a clue about Sentinal,I asked to be transfered to someone else, and was then put through to England. The lady gave me a ref. number and filed a complaint and said use this number to contact us 0800 0966580. I phoned them after I had received payment, and asked for a breakdown of charges pre 2005.This arrived in a couple of days.It showed tax deducted and 8% interest.Hope this helps.0 -

That is useful as Sentinel was sold to my wife as an add on to her Barclaycard so good news that it is a fairly simple process to claim with Barclays. That's an additional 6+ years in my wife's case.
I also received my wife's renewal pack for Sentinel today. I had no idea she was paying almost £40 per year for this product.0 -
Having dealt with my late fathers probate, I know he had Sentinel Gold since 2005 until his death in 2011. Can I claim on behalf of his estate in the hope that his widow/ my mother may get the refund?
I'm interested in a response to this question. My parents had Sentinel cover for a number of years. Cover was for both of their cards however policy was in my mums name only. Mum passed away in 2013. Dad has received a letter addressed to Mum, can he go ahead with the claim or do we need to advise them regarding Mums death?0 -

You need to phone AI scheme, tell them your Mother has died and they will request a copy of the death certificate. Then everything can be done properly by your Father.
