I've finishedbthe Spools Christmas Tree, a Cheetah design, a pair of knitted socks, knited one fingerless glove and nearly finished my cross stitch of the kniting gnome. Will do a mammoth catach up of photos in the week.

Managed to buy a chart of this on ebay last night that I've been after for ages. £1.99 including postage.

Really happy as I keep watching the kits and they go for silly money but this is the first time I've found just the chart which is better for me as I have a full set of DMC threads.Cross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -

Well done on your bargain,a few years ago I was into a teddy bear phase and I saw this kit and I so wanted it but it was expensive even then, looking foreword to your pictures.
Love all your updates, just abit of finishing on the peacock, then it's finished, have been doing b.cards, have let them run down and now I am playing catch up with family birthdays all coming at once.0 -
Update time.
I think this is the last update you saw back in January,
and here's where I am today,
Progress is slow but sure. I'm really enjoying stitching it, on the one hand I want to get it done and up on the wall to admire it everyday but on the other, I am enjoying stitching it so much that I want to take my time and make it last:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. Everyones stitching is so lovely - you all should be very proud of yourselves.
Warning going to be a long post.
Here is some updates from me to you.
Finished part 8 of the learning sampler - in this I did cross stitch, diamond rhodes stitch, rice stitch and a new one round eyelet stitch.
Also did another page for my stitch book - round eyelet stitch
Today I am also planning to start my Mums memory stitch - the twisted band - here is the finished design with my threads - I using DMC threads not the recommended threads - Au Ver a Soie (they were about £3 each, as apposed to my DMC threads were 10 for £3.30 (the bobbin ones) or 39p each (the skein ones)). Worked out I have only paid about £15 (pattern was free - won it in a competition with the designer). So not bad going. Going to do it on plain white evenweave at 32hpi.
I always find stitching helps my downs - I can lock myself into a bubble - being want to stitch non stop of late so I can crawl into that bubble. Sorry for moan.
With note I hope all are ok.
Kind wishes to all,
sweetcarer
Learning sampler continues to be beautifully done.
Love your book of stitches.
I kitted up Twisted Band Sampler at the weekend - also using DMC threads. I'm stitching on 28 count white linen/cotton mix from my stash as I'm trying to avoid unnecessary spending (even on stash). Not sure when I will start stitching it but apart from oversewing the edges with the sewing machine it's ready to go when I am. Suspect you will stitch it much faster than me0 -

When my brother died and I felt flat and unable to sew, I unpicked an old second hand canvas (badly done - boughtit to reclaim the thread), sorted all my threads onto card and put them in number order, which was very soothing and then kickstarted my creativity again as I found playing around with the colours fun and started to look through books and patterns again.
Cross stitch also got me through many nights when my children were small when they were at the taking it in turn to come downstairs every five minutes (OH was working over 300miles away for up to 3 weeks at a time). Would answer politely to their requests but not engage - they could get something they thought they needed but I would not go upstairs to read another story, tell them to try lying quietly with their eyes shut if they could not get to sleep - and then carry on sewing to keep calm and not get angry (we always kept a plastic beaker in the bathroom so they could get a drink of water, so one less excuse to come down).
Yes cross stitch is a sanity saver.0 -

Where do you all buy your DMC threads from?
I don't buy many DMC threads these days as I have a lot in my stash but I have used both of these sites recently - the prices are good though the service isn't very quick.

39p

38p
I recently bought some Colour Variations threads from them and was delighted
Both sites have reasonable postage charges
If you need anything quickly then sewandso are practically unbeatable. Their normal price for DMC is 69p but they currently have a spring sale with 15% off everything0 -
This is gorgeous. I took my Heart Wedding Sampler (which I think is the same designer as yours - HSC) to the framers this weekend.0 -
Lovely updates Sweetcarer and Emily and welcome to the caf! mothernerd
Here is my floral cat update after a week of stitching only an hour a day really so about 7 hours. All the cat is done just the flowers to go and the dreaded BABSNote to self: do not stitch whilst drowsy from meds, had to unpick a couple of times :rotfl:
Very cute - and the BABS will be worth it
How true about not stitching when tired whether from meds or anything else. Hope you are feeling better0
