Fortune - Georgia O'Keefe is probably the only artist I have ever visited an exhibition to see. I went to see her exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in the early 90's. Possibly just around the time of her death, or just after. There was a lot of her 'white' paintings and New Mexico stuff, but stunning, none-the-less. I also remember that in the top floor *gallery*, an artist...... had cut a panel out of the ceiling, and put benches underneath. I'm not sure I'd call it art, but *framing* the sky certainly makes you focus on it - and it was wonderful :D

    Oh, and ideas for subjects?

    a) that which normally goes unnoticed*, and

    b) anything that fills a soul with Joy :D

    Greying

    * part of the reason Georgia started to paint flowers, and..... well, why not? :)

'Anything that fills a soul with Joy'. I love that Greying! It will be my guiding art mantra from now on. Thank you.

...and Mr F is getting on my nerves already. He's finished work for the day and is restless because he's been sitting down at the computer for hours. I am sending him off to the gym soon! He did come home with a lovely box of Belgian Chocolates though. We're going up to see the boys over Easter so I will save them to share then - if I can resist that long :rotfl:
    • took the Daffodils in for framing - £43  They are for a special birthday though and I would probably have spent more than that in the shops
    • picked up a few groceries I'd forgotten to order and some cards and wrapping paper. Was seduced by M&$ and their wonderful cakes :o - £17.95
    • Waitro$£ delivered. Free salad and £3.88 under budget

    • Creamy Baked Haddock & Tatties for supper http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1644/creamy-baked-haddock-and-tatties. I made them in the oven though rather than the microwave.
I had an interesting conversation with the lovely framing lady yesterday. She has lots of friends who are artists and says that they rarely sell their original work. The mainly sell limited edition prints. Maybe I should give that a try.

Hope you have a great weekend all

Fortune - is that because the artist couldn't get.......'sufficient' remuneration for the original work, or is it more to do with retaining rights to the image? Making 'sufficient' revenue from LE prints or image licensing into cards etc, without losing the right over the original. Interesting.

Blimey, the weekend has shot by. I have spent most of the time working on the Butterfly painting. It is now finished and I've submitted it to the Paint My Photo April challenge - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

We went to a friend's 40th birthday do last night. Took a card and a bottle of champagne (might have been the free one I got from Waitr0$£ recently) :oThere was a fabulous barbeque so we ate well and the bar was really cheap so we only spent £15. I drove because I'm still feeling a little under the weather and didn't want to tempt fate with a hangover as well.

Mr F has been busy in the garden and has now gone out for a bike ride. I am catching up on diaries and enjoying the peace and quiet. Mr F is at home all this week so I'm making the most of it while it lasts!

Hope you've had a fabulous weekend.
