freespirit i loved you christmas table.
ive put my tree up and ive been so upset. i have to have to get a grip i still have one child at home. he didnt want to do the tree he wanted to play the x box. i put my decoration up with my dd name on it. im broken into bits and shes put on facebook that shes at the cinema and having a whale of a time. i need to sort myself out.
been out this afternoon to the christmas switch on and saw some dancing but it was very cold and my little boy wasnt overly interested so i came home and made hot choc for us all and had biscuits from the tin.
my tree is up but still have the rest of the decorations up and will do them next week. i really want one of those old fashioned illuminated christmas villages. i just have no where to put it at all. its not just cos of the money but you really need a fireplace or a coffee table.
back to school tomorrow and i really must get on and tidy the house and get sorted and also i need to not spend any money. i spent an amazing 200 pounds on food last week. for three of us its propostrus sp? but i normally spend about 50 per week and just loads of stuff had run out and i needed stocks of everything.also prob about 30 pounds of christmas presents there. i think i have two weeks of food so will only buy milk. i love this thread as i think it will help me get my christmas spirit back. I WANT TO SEE CHRISTMAS TREES!!!!

Oh WUVVIES thankyou, hope you are ok it will get easier its just so raw at the moment as it was so sudden, and its the daily reminders that set us off, like this is the first christmas DD hasnt been home or helping with the tree, just be kind to yourself x

Feeling smug as all presents wrapped and cards started. Tree and decs going up next weekend. Thought I would do the candy cane sleighs 22nd or 23rd as I want to keep them a surprise for Christmas Day. I'm thinking guests can take one home each and the younger DGkIds can take the chocolate reindeers.I have all food (except fresh!) and drink, and will be picking up the turkey the Sunday before Christmas.
I feel I can now enjoy the run up without all the work.

STORYTIME isnt it lovely that you can relax now and like you say enjoy the run up and take it all in

  • NaughtySpot - looking very festive - gorgeous :T

Got all the decs down from the loft yesterday. Was quite ruthless with the sort out. One family member took a tree for a young mum who hasn't got one with some decs. Then we were going to take the rest to charity shop but neice called realised they were going so she said she would take them, have a good rummage through them and what was left would be donated to the cs. She was so excited, she was like a kid in a sweetshop. At home she has the attic done out as a craft/work room and from what I gather she's even decorating that too :rotfl:

I think we are looking at putting our stuff up maybe next weekend.

Hopefully DH and I are going out today to see if we can get some of the remaining stuff on the list.

Oh my first Sainsburys online shop arrived last night. All went well - DH quite pleased as he didn't realise he would get his 10p a litre off petrol coupon, double points voucher etc with doing it online. Probably wouldn't bother shopping online weekly but now and again or when the weather's not very nice. I'm just a bit obsessed with checking dates on the fresh stuff :rotfl:

Hope you all have a great day.

I got all the decs out yesterday (except the tree) and had a good look at what we have. DD and I have agreed that this year we'll just have the chocolate advent calender each and the advent candle, the other advent calenders can stay away.

First job of the year is always decorating my window. I've found a theme I like and I spent 5 hours on it yesterday, I'll be spending another 3 or more on it today work permitting. I can only work on it during daylight hours so juggle my work (bonus of being self employed and working from home) and do it of an evening instead. ;)
This is last years one and I'm doing similar this year (sorry if its big, I can't adjust the size):

Rest of the decorations will go up slowly over the next 2 weeks as I'm due a delivery for work and it always takes over the entire room for a day or so while it gets sorted out. I can only just cope with that happening, never mind including my decorations as well. Roll on the 13th when I can get everything out properly :D

  • Morning all,

I've finally wrapped all my presents, well the ones that i have here, just ordered a few and will do the rest of it with my bloke tonight, written my cards, posted the ones that needed posting and ordered my christmas food shop.

The trees are up (i can't work out how to upload photos?!) everything i need to do is done...i can now rest, well with the stuff at home i can...lots of church commitments now and lots of school plays etc and yummy meals out.

My DD is off school now with a tummy bug...typical, it's doing the rounds and i've not slept in 3 days dealing with dd being upset all night :(:( hoping she will feel better so she can go to school tomoz, looks like she's going to miss brownies as well :(

going to pop and read all the posts i've missed...

OMO I am so cross with your family and feel so sad for dd, families are carp most of the time...mine is equally as dysfunctional, i'm the mom to my folks-always bailing them out with money, and dealing with their relationship woes...i've been mum since they split up when i was 11, it's horrid and tbh i distance myself as much as i can.

Hugs to all that need it...Not long til Christmas now!!! YAY! xxxx
Don't tell me this nothing...this is my nothing

Put the tree up yesterday- our tree is very eclectic and crazy as I let DS do it too and don't really re-arrange after! Have very happy memories of putting tree up and helping mum and want DS to enjoy it too.
Over the weekend we got some more bits (wrappings, baubles and so on) and me and DS did some Christmassy things together.
Mum's birthday on Friday so posted her pressies and card today.

    This weeks Christmas related stuff:

    Mon (today): start writing cards
Tue: more card writing, start DS card writing (after school)
Wed: hairdresser, post cards, sort DS school disco clothes
    Thu: DS school disco
Fri: start wrapping (stuff to be posted first)

Also need to do usual house stuff, church stuff, finish knitting mum's scarf.

    Have a good week everyone!
