I think the web site has changed a little hence can't find the tenner part anywhere.

Top of the terms page on their website is the bit gb12345 was referring to I think (£8 admin fee if they have processed the application). Doesn't mention any time limit.

As to giving bank details - you give out your sort code and account number every time you write a cheque and as meer53 says you've already given them a means to take money from you once.

Sometime I think I should say I made a loss and leave it as is.

And this is exactly why websites like this and the passport/health cards ones exist.

They rely firstly on the lazyness of people not being bothered to check what they are paying for and then on their lazyness not to follow their procedure for getting a refund.

If people were more careful with the sites they are paying money to then businesses like this wouldn't make any noney.
  • I emailed the company in question and they did not reply. However I have now received £40 twice for both passport applications. They did not even charge an admin fee. Thank you for everyone who has helped me. much appreciated:j
  • We typed in passport application when we wanted to renew 2 childs passports when the google links came up we saw their link thinking(stupidly!!..we admit our fault)it was the passport office we didn't click on the main link we clicked on the Child Renewallink and it took us straight to the form..very deceiving if we had clicked on the main link we would have seen the big blue box with warnings they are middle men & the price we knew nothing as we got the forms from the real passport office to sign & sent them back with photos & expired passports..we did notice only £80 had been debited not £92 at the bank & that was my argument with them I emailed twice to ask if the passports were paid for & got no replys! The 1st we knew was Monday this week when the passport office asked for £92 we were shocked so I'm afraid I sent an email to them in big red letters highlighted..going mad.quite funny really they replied immediately in bigger red letters that I only had to ask for a refund & I could have one & not be rude..lol..I replied yesterday saying my bank the Halifax were handling this(which they were we asked them to try to reclaim the money)& today!!..£80 paid back into our account!...so go for it ask for your money back but not sure if it my emails that worked or my bank as they said it could take 2 weeks..only thing that worrys us is who the heck are they????..they have ALL our details..bank..phone..address..passport numbers of 4 people very very scarey!!

If more people used Adblockplus, they wouldn't even see these 'sponsored listings' at the top of search lists.

It also banishes many many other adverts throughout the internet.

    Oh... and it's free. :D
  • omg..come & live in my house :T!!!!I just downloaded it and gone are all the adverts on my yahoo email..you are a star!..I said I was computer illiterate..lol.:rotfl:

Just to point out that it does say on their website that they will refund - if you contact them in the way they stipulate on their website and to the email address they give, so not strictly necessary to write in big, highlighted, red letters. :)

If you feel this company is breaking the law, why not contact Trading Standards and report them?

Also worth pointing out at this stage that there are a number of other things you can get caught out with (as well as passport renewals):
    EHIC applications
    Booking driving tests
    ESTA applications
so best to be extra vigilant when giving personal details and credit card details to any online company.
  • Seems there's big money to be made by conning people iunto believing you are renewing passport , you only realise thids company has had you off after payment is made, The Customer service is appauling , I was 1 of the people who believed I was renewing and was paying for my daughters passport to be proccessed and issued, This company need exposing for the sneaky little way of misleading and getting money in such ways. Seconds after before they could have procedeed with applicaition they were informed to refund me and stop the application, they have been charging £69for a service that you get free, maybe if it was £10 charge you wouldn't feel so upset but £69 is 2 days of hard work for me and is Very distressing , contact with the company is awful and blunt, I was told I'm not eligible for refund , then "do not ever contact us again lover this matter ok "
Charming after they just ripped me off , they have all my data and card details which is wrong , and now I have a stack of emails from companys I never heard of so rhey are selling my data on instantly and also making more money from me.
Situation is now I cannot afford to renew daughters passport and get away for a break which is awful, I'd planned on taking a holiday after having such devasting news recently that my brother had died through negligence after contracting meningitis within a matter of hours, totally devastated n upset that this can no longer happen. This needs exposing and they need to be hung for this, they cannot earn a honest living , I am not willing to forget about this as I'm not in a financial position to be handing out extensive amounts of money for a service that is free, any help on this matter would be appreciated ,who to report this to etc.
