Emily_Rachel wrote: »Some great ideas here thanks. And such positivity and support from everyone too! But it is funny that I could eat any of that, feel full, and still be ravenous an hour later. Has happened every fast day I have ever done. More water doesn't really help much, as I already drink loads! You will go to bed with a rumbling tummy, but you do not wake up starving. On fast days I eat a small breakfast of yoghurt or fruit and coffee with milk, then try to have nothing apart from water and black tea/coffee until the evening meal. I have been known to have a little soup lunchtime if really wanted (low-cal cup-a-soup is great then) but I seldom do. It takes a couple of weeks to adjust to 5:2, but once you do you have more rather than less energy on your fast days. You will be more alert too. Promise! And fasting during the day does make the diet work better - it is not just about total calories consumed. By starving your body you are stressing it, and the body goes into a different mode and all kinds of enzymes and things switch on. That is how it can 'cure diabetes' and lower blood pressure too. Read the book or watch the programme! Talk to your doctor too. The reason I started 5:2 was, yes to lose weight, but also to help my body fight the cancer I have. Just wish I had known about it before my second chemo session last year too, as it is said by some studies to help the effectiveness to fast just before chemo. Anyway, the chemo worked, I'm in remission at the moment, have been for a year, and am taking Avastin to help prolong that. The fast diet or 5:2 (I actually try to 4:3) :is yet another arrow in my weaponry. And it really helps that it is only THAT day you have to diet, the next you can eat what you like. Bet you can't wait to start now! Good luck one and all.

Hi there, that Avs S post - my best attempt. Some offers in S may be going soon - but I think most are until 2/7 (treat that as 1/7). Likewise, some items like the S/P Soups also Avs S (and Avs T) 24p vs 24p. So it's not by any means complete but need to get on with RL things again!!
Avs S & T useful for Northern Ireland shoppers too. Even if you are in Northern Ireland - or even if you're not - you can look down my Morries list to see which are marked "also vs T" and/or "also vs S" (some of these last checked woefully long ago but will get round to it - I suspect many of the S/P ones are still correct - but the "also vs" on the M list (and elsewhere) are just guides to help you identify what might also be vs S, or whoever, and for you then to go to msm.co.uk and check Avs the rival you are shopping against! So that's where you can see more items for Avs T and for Avs S!)
Happy shopping - and good luck!!
Bye for now.:)
(Someone needs to post one of those "u r so naughty" symbols (can't find where they are on my 'more' list of smilies) - one of them needs to go immediately after those Medley Chocolate bars on Avs S, I feel. There are apparently only those two that have S price 87p. Resist - the temptation...!!:D)0 -
QoC - I haven't caught up with old thread but can I join the 5:2 club please? (I'll catch up later tonight on the old thread hopefully).
I have been having a go the last 4 weeks - my medication makes me put on weight so it has stopped me putting on weight at the rate of 2lbs a week, but re losing it I seem to lose some and then put it back on during my 5 days again but I have stabilised:). Think I may need to do 3:4 to lose tho:eek:. Hey ho - thanks for the tip of early night - if I am going to weaken that's when it will be, trouble is that's when I catch up on here. So being part of a group will help my motivation I hope - you can all nag me so I don't weaken!
So a new start would be good. I have had a great weekend (but also very foodie weekend so will be back at square one tomorrow). I and OH were guests of Macmillan at York races - wow. We were in one of the stands with running buffet - omg - oysters, salmon, tempura all sorts (and a gorgeous white chocolate and amaretto cake/flan thing). So a very special day - with a free outfit from warehouse and make up done and got to meet other peeps from Macmillan over the Yorkshire area. Great after the year we have had and time with OH without littlies in tow.
Put a bet on and won (Sam Sharp - our boy is a Sam and very sharp - so had to be done so £2 bet and £17 back result). So it helped to fund the other considered bets by OH - looking at form etc .. to no avail.
Ate all day, and then today Fathers Day - lunch at pub with OH, kids and my Mum and Dad who are staying with us (I take them back tomorrow).
Haven't used the tape measure yet but think that might provide the extra motivation!.....
Hope all ok with everyone!!!

Hmmm...
I'm thanking these posts as they are drawing useful attention to potential T or S vs A.
Even though this one, nonetheless, not reached my lists - due to the 400ml versions often going on offer at around the £1.89 or even £1.65 mark at rivals in the past - and hence Avs the rival. I think I may have a price alert on there at the mo. - need to check exact varieties too - M might well have the 400ml on £1.89 (may have ended today, may have not) but I think due to seeing £1.60s on those earlier in the year, I've become averse to the £1.89 even if it's better per 100ml than the £1 price on 200ml. (£1.89 less 10%, just too expensive!:D) I am, of course, thinking of 1 HE 400ml plus one trigger item on the 2 for £4.00 in A. (Far better!) I'd never now do a straight comp. vs £1 on the 200ml or even a straight comp. on the 400ml from A whenever the others go on offer:rotfl::rotfl:. (I prefer the triggering multibuy then full price comparing!!:D No straight comps for me now!:rotfl: Far too expensive...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
Okay - enough from me - see you later!:)0 -
After now doing a quick check on MSM...
Herbal Essences 400ml - £1.89 in T until 1/7. So Avs T on 400ml (check varieties that compare on MSM.co.uk). No longer appear to be part of 2 for £4.00 in A - now £3.78 each.0 -
