#47 reporting in!
Have just called the mortgage company and submitted my first chart update, balance currently stands at £73,242.52That's a whacking great £7,812.48 less than it was three months ago
We've managed this mainly by withdrawing 6k of savings and paying that off the mortgage towards the end of December 2012. In addition to that, we've paid a total of £1,429.17 in standard repayments, £970.83 in automatic direct debit overpayments, and £375.33 extra adhoc overpayments. We won't manage a quarter like this again anytime soon, but it's one hell of a good start!
A bit of arithmetic tells me that we must have paid £962.85 in interest since the challenge started 3 months ago. I hate paying interest, and am so happy knowing that the amount we'll pay over the life of the mortgage will be massively less than if we'd not overpaid. It's also nice to know that as the overpayments chip away at the capital our interest payments will shrink, so we'll never pay over a grand a quarter in interest
I'm not changing my challenge target just yet, but unofficially my aim for this year is to try to max out the 10% annual overpayment allowance, and if we pull it off I may well be setting a more ambitious MFiT3 target...
Can't wait to see the published chart0 -
Checked in at £18.300 most likely red or amber not credit cards all cleared now (initially £9000) so sort out overdraft then 2nd quarter start the major overpayments.
Well done to all every little helps!£14, 500 to go0 -
Long day at work and kids who didn't want to settle. Had tea, chilled a bit and just about to check for updates to apply, which I'm sure there will be some more.
Shouldn't take long. Hopefully the chart should be updated shortly...

Thanks, FB! I was wondering if you had booked the day as annual leave in order to deal with the mountain of admin that I'm sure this challenge creates! Thank you for spending your well-earned relaxation time on this :TSlow progress is better than no progress.

As much as I'd have liked to, I'm far too busy at work at present to take any time off. Overtime and 6 day weeks at present, thus my patchy time in this challenge right now. Will die down, thus I'll be able to put more time towards this. Still some charts to create etc...

As I suspected, I'm mellow yellow, the £212 shortfall doesn't seem too much in the grand scheme of things. Hopefully I'll make it up once I'm back at work in August :money:
Well done to all of the greenies!Slow progress is better than no progress.

Yellow for me, but I expected it, and probably next time too, but after that I plan on making big inroads.

Really sorry to be a pain FB, my figures for the first 3 months are increases to my Offset pot, not a mortgage balance.
Could I ask that my challenge be changed from reducing the mortgage to increasing my Offset account from £29,062 (Dec12) to £59,062 (Dec15) please? So the Mar13 figure of £3,022 gives a balance of £32,084.
Sorry again! But the reducing the mortgage wouldn't reflect the OP'ing the same as the Offset increasing. Thanks!!!Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006
Mortgage- (Lightbulb moment, Sep 12) £95,571. (Jul13) £92,616 (Oct14) £88,224
OP Since Sep 12- £11,401.13, currently £8,416
Original Finish Date- Aug 2032
Target Date Aug 20200
