• Just had Orange retentions on the phone.
Offered me a free ipad mini, unlimited data with same deal as existing contract on my phone. Phone will stay the same.
I'm sleeping on it.
I'm convinced the minute i sign the new contract that they will send a letter ending the free BB.
This seems a decent-ish deal to retain my custom, but i'm still not really interested, cos i don't trust a word they say anymore.
Why would anyone?
They've made a bit of a rod for their own back here with a lot of people i'm sure.
I'm getting called back tomorrow and i'm going to insist on written confirmation of free BB or they can get lost.
Gift or no gift, its the only reason i've hung around so long.
I actually don't care if i pay a bit more per month overall, to a competitor.

Only reason I stayed with orange was the free broadband, I don't know what to do now, it runs out the end of this month. I don't want to switch to their line rental as with bt I get anytime for £5 a month, orange will be more expensive if I had to switch their phone line, plus I don't trust them anymore, I have had so much trouble with them I would cancel my phone contract if I could! I have a mob contract til 2014 so can't do anything about it. BT have offered unlimited broadband plus my current anytime package for £21 a month, still £16 more then I am paying now! I am stuck as don't know what to do! I am sure I need unlimited having 3 children

Hi Angelcake,
Sorry if I misunderstand you - are you saying that you are not trying to get your 'free' bb extended until the end of your mobile contract in 2014 ?
If the only reason you took your mobile contract was because of the 'free' bb and you were told it would last until the end of your mobile contract then you should follow Eva's guide and complain to get it extended.
If I have misunderstood I am sorry .

For anyone new here viewing this forum; much information has been ‘lost’ within the length of the thread I thought it prudent to collate a post outlining procedure for addressing this issue; Miss-sold mobile contracts

1) Phone Ofcom Tel: 0300 123 3333 or 020 7981 3040 http://www.ofcom.org.uk/contact-us ; outline your case and ask for a case number.

2) Phone Orange Executive Office: 0800 0790 134
Quoting Ofcom case no. and note the name of the person you speak to. Under Ofcom rules they have 48 hours to respond.

3) Put your complaint in writing following http://www1.orange.co.uk/documents/about/Orange-complaints-code-20120322.pdf

FAO name of the person you spoke to…..They have a 8 week window in which to resolve before it can be advanced to CISAS……..note: this case cannot be advanced to arbitration (CISAS) as it is deemed a ‘business decision’.
Then email to executive.office@everythingeverywhere.com

4) Report the case to Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) 08454 04 05 06 and ask for it to be reported to trading standards

5) The next step would be to take your claim to the small claims court.
Issue a Notice of Pre-Court Action (suggest 10-14days notice) and email FAO (Name of Contact) executive.office@everythingeverywhere.com back that up with a hard copy and send by recorded delivery to Head Office:

Good Luck to all :) Apologies for the length!

Orange retained their Mobile Contract Customers by offering ‘Free BB for Life’ as an inducement to renew their Mobile Contract for a minimum term, and most of us relied upon that representation that Orange would not remove this incentive, certainly, it was not foreseeable at the time of renewal this would be to our detriment some time into a new contract.
Customers are now under duress to accept the current offer which is a substantial variation in terms, and has to be acceptable

I've been following this thread, and whilst I've had no letter, I've decided to get rid of my Orange BB. It's become really slow lately (2.5Mb compared to 6Mb 2 years ago).

However, when I called to get my MAC code, they did tell me 2 things:

1) The Livebox 2nd line service is being discontinued next month (as others have suggested).
2) They've got a retentions deal that's supposedly exclusive to Livebox users to upgrade to the Brightbox router: £20pm for line rental, unlimited broadband, and call package consisting of anytime UK, 64 international destinations, and 500 landline to mobile minutes. But obviously no 2nd line.

I didn't go for it, but it's not the worst deal out there, if you're going to use the call package.

Do you have to be an Orange Mobile customer to get this deal? I was an Orange mobile customer when I took out the deal, but am no longer a mobile customer.

Did they state which are the 64 countries, as their current deal is only 30 countries, whereas I have 100 countries with my 2nd line.

Hi.
I have been an Orange customer since 2006, taking up their offer of free broadband ‘for life’ .
Then upgrading to the £5 unlimited broadband a few years later.
At that time we had a 2nd line put in for the BB.
When it came to me upgrading my mobile phone I was told that soon, to be able to keep my £5pm BB I would have to have an Orange landline, the costs were outlined to me, and I said I would like time to think about my options.
I gave this matter some thought, and worked out that it would be best to discontinue my BB with orange (I was only getting 0.6mb) and also scarp my 2nd line, having my landline and BB on one phone, from one company so cutting down on expense.
When I phoned to discontinue my BB with Orange, I was told that I would have to pay a ‘disconnection’ fee of approx. £30! I was told that the only way I wouldn’t have to pay the fee was if I asked for a MAC code and had another broadband supplier take over my broadband.
So if I stayed with Orange, I would have to pay for a landline from them and their ‘very slow’ BB or if I left Orange I would have to pay a disconnection charge!
Talk about control and having you over a barrel.
I maybe un-savvy with the way things work, but is this right please?
• Has anyone been a free Orange BB customer since 2004. I took out my free BB deal then, I believe at the begining of the 'free' deals. I was told by an Orange employee that before 2005 I had a different contract and I would be alright....but they have disconected me. While dealing with 2 different managers I asked if I could get a copy of the 2004 aggrement. Having been told they have to keep a copy from each type of contract they have had. I got sent a 2006/2007 one. I have done all the right procedures, my last being getting in touch with CISAS on the 2nd January which said I would here within 5 working days and I have not heard anything else!!!! would love to see a copy of the 2004 aggrement!!

Hi Tiegz

Unfortunately unable to help you here - although with Orange from '97 - my free BB was from 2006 - I believe Orange took over Wanadoo in 2006

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanadoo

Not sure if that link will help you?
• I've been with Orange since 97 and took up the free broadband offer in 2007. Received two letters indicating termination of free broadband if I didn't sign up to line rental with Orange. With four days to spare before termination, rang Orange on 0800 294 4747 Option 1 and spoke to a customer adviser and told them I wasn't happy about the line rental charge. After lots of wordage saying the Ts and Cs allow them to change the contract, I uttered the magic words "mis-selling", then she said "I'll just check your account".
After a few moments she came back and said they were willing to offer extension of free broadband till end of mobile contract and then read a prepared speech of terms and conditions of this offer. They are sending an email to confirm the offer. Took total of five minutes to arrange this.

So looks as if Orange are well prepared to give free broadband extension till the end of mobile contract but not sure if this is dependant on how long you have been with them. Best of luck all.
