Well my experience will be totally irrelevant to the moving home discussion, but i'll share it anyway :rotfl:

Have owned my own home since I was 21, moved back in with my parents (with DH and DS) when I was 24 after a failed attempt at relocating and it was horrible. Hated losing my freedom, not being able to watch what I wanted on tv, waiting for the bathroom!!

Totally irrelevant really as I was trying to fuse my family with my extended family which made the whole thing worse, I will say I got on brilliantly with my mum before I moved back home and did again as soon as we all moved out :) I just think im one of those people who once ive had my own home with my own rules, just cant follow someone elses.

If you think its the best option for your Antonia go for it, I suppose you could always think, if it gets unbearable, you could move back out into rented again?

Second to Jakes mum! Had my own house since 19, for me I think I' find it hard for moving home. Proven by mother in law living with us for 6 months!

However if you can save up go for it! I hate to think what our kids will do when they are older

Dolly you're doing so well!! My weight keeps hovering around the same point - which is obviously better than going up! - but would be nice for it to go down more than 2 pounds at a time and stay there!! :D

Och I was hoping to have lost about 2 stone by now LOL

I had big plans to be so good from January but ended up back up at the same weight - Just went back to WW I know its not very MSE but I think its worth the £20 & more of an encouragement for me to get to goal so I can stop paying haha

    Hi Antonia
I think you should go for it; small sacrifice to pay to have your own home in a few years time. Just make sure you definitely save the £500 every month and put it in an account where it's locked away for a year or two or you have to give notice period before withdrawing any money. That way if you're ever tempted when you're out shopping you can't get at this money

I definitely second this! I'd be willing to move home to make the most of saving money, but if I didn't make a point of stashing it somewhere I couldn't get at it, it would get spent on more junk I didn't need, didn't have the space to store, and I'd end up being really annoyed with myself for living at home for no reason :rotfl:

TL;DR - yes I'd move home to save money! :D

Antonia, I would go for it too. Like you say set a few ground rules and things should be ok.

OH and I were talking about our kids getting on the property ladder and feel sorry for them. My 14 yr old DD has started saving her change like I do with the sealed pot challenge. She says that it is her house fund. Very proud of her for doing it. I would have mine back to help them out if they needed to. We haven't got the cash to give them but if we could help them out to save then we will.
good luck with your decision. HTH

Evening all, I'm back in the land of the Internet but only rushing on quickly as I've been gardening instead of cooking my dinner haha. I wanted to let you all know this weeks mini challenge...

This weeks mini challenge: if it's not fab it's flop
Look at your wardrobe, is it looking like a massive heap of clothes? Are there items in there you've not worn in donkeys just in case you ever fit into them again? Are you really ever going to wear that neon halter neck?

Try on ALL of your clothes, if it doesn't fit, doesn't suit or is an um or er then it needs to go. We want to be looking fabulous this summer! Next step when you've done that, do a catwalk for your family and anything they don't think looks fab needs to go as well I'm afraid. Then pack up all your winter gear, spring has arrived and you need to be able to see those fab frocks through the winter trees :)

Antonia1 - I would move back in with parents (you can always move back out if it doesn't work out) as you will be able to save loads of money. At least you can live with your parents, when I was younger I lived at my future in-laws  for 18 months as we were engaged and saving for a house - nightmare! - but it was worth it when we moved into our own place. We could never have afforded to pay rent and save for a house.

Recurrent O - good you've ditched gym membership - I had one once and it was a total waste of money as I just didn't have time to use it!

Welcome to the challenge Mrs Pee - I think you should put the original amount on if it motivates you - it's brilliant that you've paid off £3,000 :j.

I don't think I gave out a mini challenge for last week :s please correct me if I'm wrong!

So the one for last week can go for this week too....I'm doing an April no buying online challenge all of my own... so

    Mini challenge: No Online Shopping
Other than those that do their food shop online, the challenge is to not purchase anything from the internet. If you're not physically going to the shop to debate left, right, and centre with yourself about whether you really need it, then you're not buying it :D Good luck!

Thanks everyone - I was a bit worried that it seemed to be going backwards a step, but you're all right - it is very common these days and makes perfect sense. I'm not really worried about sharing space again as I already live in a shared flat, and one room is titchy so we get a new person every 6 months or so (and all the associated getting-to-know-you issues).

    Thanks again everyone!
