  • Not a payment, but today i was finally able to cancel our monthly donation to the local gym. :jFor the last 12 months, we've been not so happily donating £40 a month to the gym so we could keep a little shiny piece of plastic in our wallets. Today, our last payment went out from the contract and I've cancelled the DD. Yaaay!

We did have the best of intentions and merrily went along for the first two months....then both got new jobs that meant we didn't have time to go any more. Every month i've begrudged that £40!

Blimey that's hardly pocket money is it?! I bet you're well happy to be rid of that! :D

Today is my first day off - I'm supposed to be off all week but work have already been hassling me about changing shifts and doing extra over the bank holiday weekend - which I said I would do to help out, but I'm just getting messed around with it now

I could really do with being able to leave the house and take some stuff back to the shops that I didn't want to have to queue to try on last Saturday :o I'm under blooming house arrest though waiting for a delivery to turn up - not much fun!

Will have a good look through my accounts this afternoon though seen as it's the first of the month and see what's what. I'm a bit peeved though that I'm getting a refund from ebay (yay!) but have to wait til April 10th for it to clear (boo!!) :rotfl:
  • Dolly you're doing so well!! My weight keeps hovering around the same point - which is obviously better than going up! - but would be nice for it to go down more than 2 pounds at a time and stay there!! :D

Well done to everyone starting the month off well :) Swift read only as I'm at work but have been proactive in phoning up to finally get a direct debit set up for our council tax, paying over 9 months and paying off our £38 charge for the end of March.

Had to demonstrate my machine at work (I'm a research scientist) to two directors and a couple of other big wigs, my Manager is off on holiday this week so her manager supervised me but he just left me to it and after they'd all left he'd said I'd done really well so I'm pleased.

Have to present my data so far to them all in an hour or so's time. Feeling a lot less nervous now, this morning was crazy as of course the machine decided that it was the perfect time to not work properly.

Hoping my manager is pleased with how things when when she gets back.

Half to the debt and half on a treat? I'd say the treat, but then I know how good it is to cut up another debt!!

Thats a whopping £480 extra a year you've saved! Well done.

Well hello all, been DIYing for the last few days. Got the new wardrobe at the weekend and all up without too much of a saga. Need to look at listing the doors on ebay! Onto tackle the kids bedroom. Seen a lovely bed for an 8 year old a Casa 3/4 however not paying full whack so been watching 3 on ebay. the first went for £400.00. Second finishes today (personally I adore this one because its all white) The 3rd is buy it now £300, so went for this one just incase. Still waiting for a reply and I can sand down the pine bits and paint them white. The link below is what I'd prefer it to look like

Not a very MSE weekend but feeling a lot better in my whole self by a new blind and light. In fact the bedroom feels a lot nicer and I can now see all my clothes and hang everything!

Quick update, not doing great as its a 5 week month this month (Boo boo!)

Okay, I'd like to start a quick poll. I'm 26 years old, hope to pay off my debt by Christmas. My mum has offered for me to move back home for a year or two at that point (or from graduation if I get a uni place away from home) so that I can save for a deposit on a flat / house. I would obv pay some towards housekeeping, but it would allow me an extra £500 per month, which dramatically increases my chance of being able to afford my own place before I'm 30. It would, however, mean giving up quite a bit of freedom for the time I'm there - things like dating would be hard, and my sis will still be around during uni holidays (and she takes FOREVER in the bathroom).

So, what would you guys do?
