    Yes he would be playing Sims and also a game called Runescape. Wanted to stay away from Dell as not had much luck with them in the past. The Asus looks good though......hmmm decisions decisions

    Ive been trying to do a bit of research on customer care on Asus and have read that if the laptop needs to be returned, carriage has to be paid by the customer. Does anyone know if this is true?

    TBH, can't see anything positive on CC for any brand which is a shame as it would be a big factor for me.

    Doesn't this depend on the retailer rather than the manufacturer?

    A bit overbudget but a bargain here for £380. An i3-380M with 4GB RAM, 500GB disk, HDMI etc. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_Edge_15_1079088.html

    It's a cashback deal (may take a while) but its with the manufacturer rather than retailer so should be reliable. https://www.lenovo-promotions.com/notebook

    The best bit? 3 Year On-site Next Business Day Warranty. (Again, direct with Lenovo rather than the retailer.)

    Bang on budget at £350 a 17inch i3 laptop... -> http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-g72-b10sa-intel-core-i3-350m-17-3-hd-screen-windows-7-home-premium-3gb-ddr3-r/938244

    I'm a bit suspicious about this one. HP don't offer an extended warranty on it. A bit odd. Here's the product page FYI

    EDIT:
    2 cheap laptops £260. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/237715
    SOLD OUT: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130486661779&clk_rvr_id=232186637938

    1 even cheaper one for £240 http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/toshiba-c650d-10w-notebook-v-series-239-77-inc-vat-free-delivery-ccl-online/938663

    There are lots of 1st generation i3 laptops (best is i3-380M) under £350 appearing now. Why? Because the new i3 laptops are coming on stream (e.g. i3-2310M). The 1st generation ones are very good. Look for good warranty deals. I'm not going to post individual deals.

    You'll find most of the deals here -> http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=search&keywords=i3&category=0&type=1&date_range=30&sort_type=relevancy

  • Fujitsu Lifebook AH530 Notebook- 15.6ins - 2GB - 250 Hard Drive

    This from Asda is £249. Their description is terrible, but if you look at the comprehensive review here then it tells you:

    Fujitsu Lifebook AH530MF112DE
    :: Processor
    Intel Core i3 370M 2.4 GHz
    :: Mainboard
    Intel HM55
    :: Memory
    4096 MB, 2x 2048 MB DDR3 (1333 MHz @ 1066 MHz)
    :: Graphics adapter
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v - 1024 MB, Core: 450 MHz, Memory: 600 MHz, DDR3, 8.730.0.0
    :: Display
    15.6 inch 16:9, 1366x768 pixel, 39.60 cm, LED backlight, LG Philips LP156WH2-TLAA, glossy: yes
    :: Harddisk
    Hitachi HTS545032B9A300, 320GB 5400rpm
    :: Soundcard
    Realtek ALC269 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH
    :: Connections

    TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633B
    :: Size
    height x width x depth (in mm): 39 x 378 x 252
    :: Weight
    2.5 kg
    :: Battery
    48 Wh Lithium-Ion, 4400 mAh
    :: Price
    630 Euro

    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
    :: Additional features
    Webcam: 1.3 Megapixel, adapter: 80 watt, quick guide, driver DVD, Windows 7 recovery DVD, 24 Months Warranty,

    The disc is bigger than the post above, but the memory is smaller, otherwise, they're close. Good value, but be warned, it does have a glossy screen (reflections) and apparently the built in speakers aren't great.

    Asda said they had 9 left today.

    I think that your specs might be off.

    I think they are these:

    Processor - Intel Pentium Dual Core P6100 - 2.0GHz
    Screen size - 15.6 in Glare 16:9 (1366 x 768) LED Backlit
    RAM - 2 GB DDR3 1066 MHz PC3-8500
    Hard Drive - 250 GB HDD SATA 5.4K
    Operating System - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    Optical Drive - DVD Super-Multi
    Graphics - Intel HD Graphics
    Bluetooth - V2.1
    Webcam - Integrated
    Ports -
    VGA , HDMI, 3x USB 2.0, Express card 54/34, RJ45 for LAN, audio in and audio out

    More detailed specs here

    Both laptops offering decent value for money at a mere £250.
