The transfer of my 2010/11 Santander Flexible ISA 2 was arranged, via the ISA transfer form, to take place on 6th April (when 1st year bonus ceased) the funds actually reached my Halifax Direct Reward ISA Account on 14th April.

As the Halifax ISA guarantee should pay you interest from the date of receipt of the transfer form, is there any particular reason for your concern about the time taken to transfer the funds?

I didn't know that, so it means I am currently being paid twice?, a market leading 6.9%

As long as your Santander funds have no notice period/restriction regarding transfer, see http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/accounts/cash-isas/isa-direct-reward/

Anyone had this problem, maybe worth checking out within the Halifax branch?

I transferred 2 cash ISA's. One from Santander and the other from Natwest using the form downloaded from Halifax website.

All has been transferred now, but the online banking ISA account says my available remaining cash to put into this years ISA is £40. Am I right in saying it should still be £5339(£1 to open the account)?

Yes it was roughly £5300 I transferred in.

Wait 24-48 hours, and it should automatically correct itself.

Yes, I transferred >£10,500 and the Halifax system showed around £70 allowance remaining for a few days.

The system caught up this morning and now shows the full allowance available (which it isn't, as it's been subscribed elsewhere at a better rate).

    Hello,

I am transferring my old Skipton ISA to Halifax and completing the form, now the account number is too long for the box will this be a issue? and I don't have a specific sort code for my account just the Skiptons usual one will this be OK too use?

    Thank You

Yes, this will be fine to use.
  • ok I am so confused about this - so reading through other posts I can open 2 ISAs 1 x to fund this year & another to transfer last years? I think I have got that. But I opened a Halifax Isa in Nov 2010, obviously the rate drops on its anniversary. So is it best to open a Santander Isa to fund now & then wait for another Isa to come along by Nov to transfer? Will another one?

    thanks!

You can upgrade the Halifax ISA (I assume that it's the Direct Reward @ 2.8%) to the current issue 4 (3%/3.2% for qualifying customers) - see https://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/accounts/cash-isas/isa-direct-reward/redesignation/default.asp

'Opening' multiple ISA accounts is no problem but you can only subscribe (pay new money into) to one per tax year - ISA transfers do not constitute opening & subscribing, you are merely transferring the same ISA to a new provider.
  • cool thanks I have done that! So what I have done this financial year is:
    1. upgraded current Halifax isa to the above Isa (but not to pay cash into)
    2. opened a regular saver with first direct for with an interest rate of 8%
    3. opened a santander Isa to pay in available cash above the reg saver

are these the best things to have done?

Thanks! Am a complete novice at this - this is the first time I have been solvent with disposible cash!
