No, as it says it's interest to 31 March.
Or...is it simply paid the following year or upon account closure?
    Yes.
Why is interest paid this way instead of right up to the end of the tax year?
You'd have to ask the institution in question.

With an Isa such as santanders when they only pay interest annually on the 1st march are you going to have to wait a further year to get the interest from 1st march to 5th april 2012? IE you will only get that interest on 1st march 2013??

As such would it be better to go for a brclays isa for example who pay interest monthly then you are accruing interest on the interest that has already been paid?

I want to transfer ISAs from Santander and Nationwide to the Halifax.

On the Halifax transfer form it asks for the "Existing ISA provider name and address" - what should I put for the address for Santander and NW?

    Thanks

You should have the opening confirmation letters from Santander and NW, usually I just put the address from these letters.
  • I am confused :(
    1. Can I open 1 ISA to transfer last years ISA too and 1 to put new money in?
    2. I am taken by the Halifax one which allows transfers - but it only gives interest annually. am i better finding one with a slightly lower interest rate that gives me interest monthly?

And 3. which is just a moan - I would have liked to have kept my money with Barclays - for simplicity - they do not have any by the look of it that allow transfers in WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM at all!

And advice on 1 and 2 appreciated!

    Yes, if you wish,

Why? If the AER for annual/monthly interest is the same, you'll receive virtually identical amounts of interest at the end of the year.

Hey Guys, just a quick question.

On the 4th, Opened a Halifax ISA and sent off a transfer form to them, to transfer 2 of my Barclay ISAs into this account. I have just logged on my Barclays online banking and it looks like these 2 ISA's have now closed (they were not closed this morning). So I logged into my Halifax online banking, expecting to see my funds in my new ISA, but it is still at £0. Is it normal for it to take a few days to appear from one ISA to another?

    cheers :)

Yes, it can take a lot longer than a few days, as some providers still carry out ISA transfers by cheque.

At least you will be covered by the Halifax ISA guarantee and paid interest from the date of receipt of your completed transfer form.

I transferred my last year's Barclays Golden ISA 2 to Halifax Direct Reward 4 ISA. Halifax received my transfer form on the 9th March, funds disappeared from Barclays online on the 11th March and appeared in Halifax account on the 14th March. I think it's the fastest transfer I experienced in years'.
  • A quick question please ladies and gentlemen,

I currently have a Halifax ISA getting 0.5% interest after it's ran the course of the year. Can I transfer this money into a new Halifax Direct Reward ISA to get it earning 3% (or 3.2%) for this new financial year?

They say they accept transfers from other providers but I can't find any guidance on whether I can transfer an old ISA with them into a new ISA with them!

    Thanks

    Jim
