Anything worth looking at?
Mentioned because it has a 20" screen and includes a Windows7 license.
Secondly, a laptop for £400. This one is just over but has a good spec. http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/acer-5742-core-i5-laptop-with-4gb-memory-black-08702299-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-63
Use code DXPC8 to get 8% off (expires 29th March I believe).
Also -3% with Quidco. Details -> http://www.quidco.com/dixons/?acIf you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Do you think there will be any pre-/mid-/post- Easter deals on laptops? I'd hate it to buy one now just to find out a couple of weeks later that it was reduced by 50-100 pound0

Thanks for this but how good is Dixons' customer service if a problem occurs?0 -
Re. Dixons customer service - no idea I'm afraid.
Breaking the forum title a little, here are 2 sub £400 laptops with dedicated graphics - may be of interest to games players.
1. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/ASUS_X61S-1EJX_1041946.html
Full specced (but oldish) laptop but with Windows Vista. If you have a spare Windows 7 license I'd install that.
2. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Samsung_Q430_1065333.html (£389.97 with offer code Sunny-1)
Full specced (but newer) laptop with not-so-good dedicated graphics but better CPU and Windows 7.
EDIT. added:-
3. (actually £429 but read on)http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/technology/computing_and_gaming/laptops_and_netbooks/121672786_medion_akoya_e6221_intel_core_i32310m_processor_4gb500gb_156_black_laptop.html?hnav=4294935766
Comes with latest Sandy Bridge CPU and the HD 3000 integrated graphics are, apparently, on a par with the Nvidia 220M.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

thank you
EDIT: The following is very similar for £300 http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_IdeaPad_G560_1006553.html
Just depends whether you need the first laptop's graphics chip which will play some games, however only old games like Doom 3 or Quake 4 should be playable. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
grumpycrab wrote: »Good price but note the CPU is a bit slow. I don't know how good the graphics card is either (but better than integrated).

Fitting the thread title to a tee..this Toshiba has a fast processor (benchmark 2349) and is £349. Rest of spec is average.

Extend warranty cheaply here -> http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-C660-1E2/1101903/toshibaShop/true/tab/2/#2
Similar to previous (but still current deal) @Argos.
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5084760.htm?storeId=10001&referredURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.argos.co.uk%2Fstatic%2FProduct%2FpartNumber%2F5084760.htm&jspStoreDir=argos&_%24ja=tsid%3A11674%7Cprd%3A1546795&referrer=COJUN&com.ibm.commerce.context.experiment.ExperimentContext=com.ibm.commerce.context.experimentimpl.ExperimentContextImpl%405fba106d&cmpid=COJUN
This has a bigger hard drive, better battery and, in theory a 2 year warranty in the box (if this is important to you ask or open the box @Argos)If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Something slightly different. For £375.81 here's an interesting refurb (12 months warranty).
http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/acer-aspire-5742-refurbished-laptop-08527243-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-63
Fantastic processor and loads of RAM and disk space.
Integrated graphics but this laptop does have HDMI and and VGA port.
NB. above price uses code HARDWARE8 (don't know when it expires) and QuidcoIf you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0
