I think it depends on the JC - I don't apply for any that I am given, but it took a few months to get through to my advisor the validity of what I am applying for. These jobs pay £40K plus a year and I pretty much embarrassed him out of the jobs he was printing out. I also pointed out what a destroyer of my confidence it was to print out part time book keeping jobs in shady companies on the other side of town.

This one is 18 hours per week.... at £6.51 per hour!

Apply for it to keep them happy. If you get asked to an interview but really don't want the job turn it down, the JC won't know will they, just say you didn't get it. They can't force you to work somewhere you don't want to

I applied, it'll be just my luck that it'll be the one who wants to offer me a job :rotfl:

I think I might be starting a temp office job on Monday, just waiting for confirmation and it's not something I want to do but it is a job and that is what I need right now! Plus I can look for something else while I'm doing this and I'll hopefully have a decent wage coming in for the time being.

So hoping that it works out and they don't suddenly say "oh actually we only need you for 2 hours a week now, not full-time"... as can happen with temp jobs. :undecided

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

Well, after spending literally all of yesterday until 11pm crying about this job I went this morning. I told a couple of the girls that work there how I feel and they said if I'm going to leave its better to do it now than a month down the line when they wont have time to train someone else up. Then, I took a phone call and put it through to the manager and he had a go at me! I just thought this really isn't worth it. I went through and explained and we both agreed it wasn't really for me. The thing is, they expected me to know everything about the job overnight, and it was never going to happen when I have never done the job before.

I'm going to ring the job centre now but I bet I can't claim anything.

    I've messed everything up!

    Chin up :)

Phone the JC then sit down and do something for you today, don't get too worried about it, these things happen! I'd rather be unemployed and happy(ish) than miserable and crying about a job.

Well done for having the guts to do it in fact!

You've not messed everything up! You weren't to know what it would be like. Personally I think they've treated you badly and not given a good impression of themselves at all. You shouldn't be expected to walk into a job and know everything

Don't let it get you down Lexi. It obviously wasn't the right job for you and if it was making you feel that down then it really is not worth it.

having a break from job searching for a bit now, going for an extra driving lesson. I can't wait to pass my test because I think it will open up loads more job opportunities for me.
