    Thanks Al Mac.

Do you know how I can revert to a previosu version of FF - The one I have installed is 3.16.13 and Snaplinks isn't compatable! Typical!!

    Got my roboform!
    Thanks
    Gert

If you want to use the latest version of FF you can install the add on
Multi Links which works the same as Snap Links
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-links/

    Best of Luck :)

I'm kind of relieved to see that other people have been getting calls from Npower despite ticking the 'no quote' box, I was starting to think I was mad and hadn't ticked it!

He said to me that to be put through to the next stage of the competition I had to get a quote... but I know how to deal with this - I got rid of the guy pretty quickly by saying I rent my house and the landlord deals with the power suppliers. It really made me laugh actually as he sounded sooooooo disappointed when I said that, and he mumbled something along the lines of 'Oh ok, well I'll put you into the competition anyway, bye' and hung up. Poor guy. I've worked in sales before, tho nothing so parasitic as that, thank god.

I've just had the sales call from Npower via Loveoffers too. I am certain that I had ticked the do not contact box :wall:and I do not enter any competitions that are linked to Loveoffers (I think they are spammy/possibly banned from this site too). Ditto was told it was a T&C of comp to get a quote.

Anyway, I got the quote and it would apparently be cheaper. So I told him to put the quote in writing so I could peruse it at my leisure. He told me that they could not do it (and they are the outbound sales team blah blah b$ b$). They will only put something in writing once I agree to the changeover. I then told him that unless they put something in writing to me beforehand that I would not be doing any business with them. He was quite agressive and I had to be extremely firm with him that Npower would not be getting my business without something in writing beforehand.

Am off to look for the original link of the comp I entered. Does anyone know which body I should make a formal complaint to please (data protection?). I would encourage others to do so.

He phoned from the number 0141 572 4700.

NPower called us the other day and I don't enter the LoveOffers comps.

Not sure where they found my details, but the bloke was quite persistant.

  • Hi everyone

Just want to warn everyone of a scam that is currently active. Basically you get a phone call from someone informing you that a competition you entered is now progressed to the next round and guess what, you have successfully gone through to the final selection of possible winners!

The caller then asks you if you are interested in entering competitions on a regular bass and starts chatting to you about the kind of prizes you would like to win etc. They are very smooth talkers and even make the odd mistake to make them seem 'human'.

To cut a long story short, they are trying to get you to sign up over the phone for a trial membership of a competition club where they, unlike 'their competitors', only enter you into genuine competitions where there is a 'real prize'. The cost.... £29.99 pcm.

    Warning signs:
    1. They don't have an email address you can contact them on and they aren't interested in getting yours

    2. They don't have a phone number - your phone shows no number stored for their call (must check with OFCOM about that as I thought that was illegal!)

    3. They want your bank details over the phone to set the direct debit up immediately to benefit from the trial

    4. Before this point they have cleverly asked several questions that identify you so they have more than enough info to basically steal your ID

    5. Extravagant claims about much your chances of winning are improved - to 1 in 10!

    6. The website they gave me doesn't exist (550Club.co.uk - tried various combinations)

When I told that they had rung me at work and I didn't have my bank details they said they would ring me back another day and rung off.

So, be warned and be especially wary of giving too much about yourself away over the phone to a total stranger.

Please share this info as widely as possibly.

    Steven

I think this is called a sales call. Its not really a scam. If people want to sign up its for them to decide. Its no different to someone ringing you up trying to push you into buying anything else. Not really a scam
