letter rec'd with sort code and a/c No - 8th oct

"card and pin in a few days" !! - still nothing

"you have decided not to request online banking" (I didn't). So how would I get at my money ? Apparently I can request online banking - I will.

HOW does it work that you transfer money then ? Do you nominate another account to pay in/out to ? as with others ?

DO you HAVE to have a Nat West current account to do this ?

what a waste of time that application turned out to be, just sent a letter to close the account.

After about 3 weeks I eventually had everything I needed to login only to then find out I needed a card reader to setup a payee and a natwest current account to actually transfer money out to my own own bank account (just lucky I checked before transferring money in) Customer service says most people have their savings and bank account toegther!! What a dinosaur.

    Who told you that?

You don't need a current account to transfer out your money in the saving account. Apply a card reader, they will send you a card and pin. Then you can add payee as you want. Simple.

Ask people here, rather than phone customer service, they are useless!

Just sign up the online banking then. Simple?! Can you find on their website? if not, let me know I post you the link!

NO need current account. After you receive all the log in documents, log in your account, enable the card reader, then they will send you card and pin, after that you can set up payee as you like.

thanks. just found my details online. I AM registered for online banking. Have ordered card reader (would they not have sent anyway ?). Hopefully account will work as well as A & L 2.75% and be worth the hassle/difference in rate for my 'lump'

What a god damn nightmare Natwest is!!!! grrrr

Sept 30th, Went to Natwest site to open the e-Saver account (all I got at the moment is Barclays current account and an INGDirect savings account which took 5mins from signing up to putting money into)

Anways so Oct 10th I finally heard something from Natwest saying I need to sign the form once I checked all my details are correct and send it back which I did within an hour of hit hitting the letterbox

Oct 18th I got a letter back saying 'Your account is open but you chose not to sign upto online banking' (!!!!!!, no I didn't). Went to the Natwest site and signed upto online banking after filling in my details, was told I'd have to wait for my activation code in the post.

Today Oct 21st I got my activation code, thinking I finally reached the end but nope. Put my code in but said it's expired. Tried again, again told it's expired. Called Natwest and they said my date of birth is wrong, what the fk??? I got a print out of my original application and every detail is right. I even entered my D.O.B. to request the online activation code which went through fine.

Just went into a Natwest branch for the first time ever (what a mess). She took about 25mins to find out what to do, photocopied my passport and said come back in, in about a week to makesure it's changed. After this I'll have to no doubt go back on the Natwest site and apply for the online activation code again which I'll have to wait another half a week for.

All in all It's going to take almost a month and half to get money into which means I'm only going to get 10 and half months of interest. I'm sick of Natwest already, bloody useless.

Including 1.85% bonus Limited period offer for customers who applied for an e-Savings account between 29 September 2010 and 20 October 2010.
    See here Also:

And RBS Direct Saver (not as good) also..

    https://www.emoneyfacts.co.uk/news/news-search.aspx?newsarticleid=199712

There was something about 'valid for 28 days' on the information when applying for an account as a 'non-existing' customer. So applications taken before cut off this morning, but still in processing, are likely to still carry the previous rate..

([STRIKE]Will no doubt be confirmed shortly[/STRIKE] Yes, confirmed by another poster at #276)
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Don't forget to allow for the 15 working days it will take for them to send you the card reader too! :D When I asked why it took so long to get a card reader I was told it was "Because they have to be put in a box & sent in the post".While I didn't expect it to be transported directly to my kitchen table, I do think they are taking far too long. I had my card reader from Smile 3 days after requesting it.

They also said that a lot of letters had gone out saying "As you've not signed up to online banking" but that they didn't know what had caused the error or when it would be fixed. Useless. Chap I spoke to was very friendly but did reveal he got a lot of customers ranting at him throughout the day - says it all really.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Natwest, Smile, and Nationwide card readers are identical apart from branding. So if you've got the card and a PIN, use whatever reader comes to hand.

As an aside, a Barclays card reader looks different to the others, but again it works, and to be honest, if you have "fat fingers", or just want a card reader with bigger keys, this is the one for you.
