My outside tomatoes have shown no sign of disease whatsoever. A few of the fruit are a bit bruised from banging against the fence, but otherwise they look fine.lemonjelly wrote: »The cucumbers I planted out are going great guns. The beans have slowed down a little - wondering if there is a problem there...
The brocolli is great though! A fair amount in the freezer!
My cucumbers (mrbadexample snr gave me a couple) need repotting, so nothing yet. The gherkins I planted are still very small plants, growing painfully slowly despite being in the greenhouse.lemonjelly wrote: »Oh, & I'm getting fed up of courgettes...:o
:rotfl: That's why I don't grow them. Two courgettes and I'm happy for the year.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Made garden vegetable soup today, from the blown cauliflower head, a couple of carrots, a potato, some spring onions & celery. It's ok, quite nice, but I've had better. Still, at least it's all my own stuff.
Mowed the lawn, did a bit of weeding, found (& despatched) a few sawfly larvae & added another bag of 'oss muck to the compost heap, along with the grass clippings and some other bits & bobs.
Tomatoes starting to ripen well, although still losing a few to the mildew. Much improved though. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I know exactly what you mean, it's so satisfying to know that you've grown something yourself, nurtured it and then picked when it's ready. So far we've had lettuce, cucumbers, radishes, chives, early potatoes, rhubarb, courgettes, french beans, peas so much fruit that we've had various desserts and I've made loads of jars of jam which I've also been able to give to friends and that makes me feel good too - gardening/growing is just so rewarding.
The food is nicer too as it's so fresh, just can't wait for my tomatoes to ripen - they are so slow this year.:("WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Yes, but only a few. I've had a nibble to test the strength - happily they're just right for me. A decent kick, but not so mental that they're inedible. They are a bit small, but I just love the plant.
I also put a few in a meatloaf, along with some of the Iranian Round I'm growing. :drool:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Pretty in Purple from the Real Seed Catalogue. There is an £8 minimum order, so if you need one that badly, you're going to end up with other stuff too.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Ah yes, now I remember why I didn't order them immediately.
Well I'd pay £8 for that plant, so off to order seeds, I'm sure they have a nice tasty tomato that I haven't tried before;)0 -
That chilli plant is lovely
Deffo worth an £8 spend on seeds... might have to have a cheeky look myself0
