Sorry, I should have made myself clearer.

I did mean is it cheaper to book a hire car from the UK for collection when we reach LV or is it cheaper to hire a car once there? (from either the airport or our hotel). We're staying for a week and were going to organise the car hire during that week then do a road trip for the next two weeks, returning to LV for one night then flying home.

Thanks for all your replies so far though! :)

Thats what I thought you meant

See my previous reply..book it in the UK

I have some money I want to keep in dollars but seperate to my currency for a group meal twenty people have paid me for so I decided to put it into travellers cheques -I had to try four different agents before I could find one that had $500 in stock. One agent offered to order it for me but told me I'd have to pay a delivery charge !! (to deliver to the BRANCH). Travellers Cheques are definitely dying out.

Ah well another job ticked off the endless to do list

I don't think I've even considered TC's for the last ten years. They are definitely dying out.

I always get TC's if I am ordering from Crown Currency. I get some cash and the balance in TC's and have never had a problem with them in Vegas. A lot of places accept them without ID.

I used to take about half the cash we needed this way and get the rest from the ATM with my Nationwide FlexAccount card, but now that they will be charging for using it from November, I think I will get all the cash/TC's in advance from Crown.

    You're right!

The Nationwide changes make a big difference. Especially since we're staying for 8 weeks next trip. I still don't like TC's though.

On another subject, sorry we will miss you and hubby next time. Tony liked you both, and he's beginning to realise hat I don't make him see bad people. He has liked everyone so far. Left to him, he wouldn't meet a single soul. - His loss.

But when you map it its just at Mccarran? So not to far for a taxi unless I'm looking at the map all wrong!

If you mean the map you access from the Groupon website, it's wrong - actually put their address into Google Maps and it's nowehere near McCarran - not sure what's gone wrong when they tried to link to the map, it's very confusing?!

Stripburger certificates are now in stock at restaurant.com!

Oh, and in case anyone read my previous posts re. a way of possibly getting Stripburger and other popular restaurant.com certs with 80% off...it works!

    Here's what you do:

    (1) Wait until an 80% off code becomes available part way through the month - usually posted on here somewhere, or will be emailed to you if you sign up an account at restaurant.com

    (2) Go to the restaurant.com site and click on the "Gift a Gift" tab towards the top right of the page

    (3) Scroll down past the gift cards to an option headed "Give Restaurant.com Gift Certificates", select the quantity and denomination you want e.g. 2 x $25 then 'add to cart'

    (4) On the next page, enter the 80% off promo code , apply it to your order then proceed through to the checkout to pay as normal

    (5) You will be emailed confirmation of your order which allows you click through and print &/or email it to yourself, or the same info should appear in your account

    (6) On the first of the month when new certificates are launched, go back to restaurant.com, click on the "Redeem Your Gift" and input the certificate code number

    (7) On the next page a message should be displayed confirming that the certificate has been approved and a credit for e.g. $25 has been applied to your shopping cart, and at the top right hand side of the page the same amount should be shown as "Credit Available"

    (8) Proceed as you would on restaurant.com to find the restaurant you want e.g. for Stripburger input zipcode 89109 and a radius of 5 miles - restaurants are sorted by letter on the next page

    (9) Choose the certificate you want, add it to your cart and when you check out the value of the certificate will be deducted from your available credit balance

Using the above method, I purchased a $50 gift certificate last week at 80% off using promo code PLATE, total cost $4. This morning from the $50 balance I've bought a Stripburger certificate for $25 (actual cost $2), a Ben & Jerry's 50% off certificate for $5 (actual cost $0.40) and still have $20 credit left to spend.

Sorry this has ended up a bit longer than I was intending, but I hope that helps someone!

Hmm I did that -exactly -and it didn't take from the credit for StripBurger

Happy enough with it for $10 and have plenty of use with the vouchers elsewhere so no big deal
