Didnt I read somewhere that Mycitydeal has been bought out by the American giant Groupon?

What about people who have bought the sunglasses at higher prices. Are they going to get a refund? Certainly not.Thankfully I will be cancelling my voucher.Shame on Mycitydeal

    Hi folks

I've just got in from a long days filming and am trying to catch up on this.

What I know so far (provisional - I will post properly tomorrow when I've chatted with my team who've been doing this - but wanted to let you know Im on it)

    1. The price was increased on some some glasses - this is out of order in my view
    2. My City Deals contract states companies cant do this - and I believe there is likely to be a dispute between MCD (which is now backed by a major US site) and sunglasses shop
    3. Sunglasses shop will refund the difference on request if you email them
    4. MCD will give you a refund on your voucher if you want it

As I say I will look at this properly tomorrow and start a new thread with the info - however we're on it - as always - and won't let it rest to ensure MSE users get fair treatment.

    Hey Martin.

Seriously can you donate whatever cash you make from the link to charity please.

I did mention one earlier for kids of dead & injured service personnel.

You know it is the right thing to do...

Thanks Martin, and I like paragraphs 2 and 4.

I realised I sent my earlier email to MyCityDeals as a direct reply to the address it came from, and have now sent to support:

sorry, I replied direct earlier, copy now to your support email address

    £35 money back please

the excuse just doesn't wash, as the prices were gazumped instantly the
sale opened, which is !!!!!! all to do with stock levels but just blares a
    lack of integrity

if the money is not back in my account by next Tuesday or Wednesday,
    Trading Standards will be contacted

You are serious in suggesting these problems were not foreseen?

I can see what you mean - one of the items I was looking at has more than
    doubled in price

    Please refund my £35

well, to their credit, they are working even at this time of night

edit: maybe that was just an automatic message to everyone on the list, rather than specific to my email a bit earlier; today, no further message so far

latest email from and to MyCityDeals
    Dear MyCityDealer,

Apologies for the great deal of confusion around the Sunglasses Shop deal. We
realise that many of you are concerned about changes
in price since the deal was issued. These price increases have only affected certain
Ray-Ban and Oakley models. No other brands have
been affected. As stated in a previous email, the Sunglasses Shop will honour the
original prices automatically. This means that:

    - If you have already placed your order and your sunglasses have changed in price, a
refund of the difference in price will
automatically be issued within 7 working days of your order being shipped.

    - If you have not yet made a purchase the prices will be back to their level on the
day of the promotion by 9:00am on Friday 21st May.
This means that the issue has been completely resolved.

Please enjoy your weekend, and accept our apologies for any confusion caused.

    Kind Regards,

    MyCityDeal

    kindly re-read my message

I don't give a !!!! about revisionist excuses; the deal was !!!!ed over by
your trading partner's conduct yesterday and I'm not buying

refund please, by Tuesday or Wednesday

or Trading Standards and a small claims court case to pursue my money
    back, including costs

I too am disgusted by them raising their prices.... what a load of !!!!!!!! about raising the price of glasses that were out of stock. Prices have gone up across the board by £3-£20.

Google caching is great but updated their cache for the website too quickly. Bing.com however has it cached from 16/05/2010.

I've gone to the trouble to save the cached versions of Ray-Bans (pages 1-6) showing the live prices as of 16/05/2010. The files are .mht so they are web page archives which is great for saving snapshots of websites.

So download them at will and get price checking so you can make sure they honour the original price. I've only done the Ray-bans as they're probably the most popular and it's what I'm interested in :)

    Raybans page 1: www. multiupload.com/WEAY6H6Q7C
    Raybans page 2: www. multiupload.com/AHGJPTUDSH
    Raybans page 3: www. multiupload.com/3M8R9TU1U6
    Raybans page 4: www. multiupload.com/S6LHU2ODTB
    Raybans page 5: www. multiupload.com/SHLVQYKODY
    Raybans page 6: www. multiupload.com/OP8460L665

remove the space after www. when you copy and paste the link otherwise it won't work. I've had to do this because of user restrictions on here not allowing me to post links.....

    hope this helps

    nige

ps: just read their latest emails about the prices will be back to normal again as of tomorrow morning. We'll all be able to check the ray-bans now won't we just to make sure they're keeping their word.... :)

    hi again,
i also purchased the voucher, and ive ordered a pair of polarised aviators from them.
they were £132 on thursday when i used the voucher, and the same price on wednesday when i purchased the voucher. so no price hike on these. i still think ive got a good deal.
ive emailed them to check they had my order id number, and i got a reply within a couple of minutes confirming my order.

lets just hope they arrive in 7 days, hopefully before !!!

can we all start to post when we get a dispatch email - and also when they arrive !, as i notice no one here has had a dispatch email from them so far.
im sure it will put our minds at rest when people get dispatch confirmation emails.
interesting to know how quick we will get our shades.

yes i am glad its reappeared too.
if anyone gets a dispatch e mail will you post here, and also let us know the delivery timescale too please.
i will do the same. i hope this offer turns out well for everyone.

i only wish the delivery was quicker than 7 days, on the website it states next day delivery so i ordered them, i didnt see/notice the 7 days delivery on the voucher, its my own fault.
but then again weve paid £4 postage so hope they arrive soon.
i guess the 7 days was to cope with the demand.

i ordered them at 1pm yesterday, id be interested to know how many actual orders they received and dispatched yesterday, because not everyone will have placed an order yesterday as the voucher is valid for a month.

    keep us posted!
