i go through phases, sometimes all mine are made with stickers, other times they are all made with die cuts. The best tip I can give is "its all in the colour", if the colours match well then the card will look beautiful, too often I have seen poorly matching colours on cards and they look awful!

Another good tip is all die cuts are cheapest on ebay.I use a great seller (its not me before im accused) if anyone wants her ebay name PM me. i used to pay over 20pence per die cut shape, now they cost about 0.02pence per shape, very reasonable and MSE for your cards!

A challenge? How about a card with a nice, interesting edge? Be it a punch, fancy scissors, ribbon, hole punch, or even free hand, beads? Haven't got an awful lot of time today but will try and do some. Now that we have the expert Jamtart on board  she can teach us all lots

I've decided to take on this challenge.:T I don't have any fancy border punches - just a normal hole punch. So far I've freehand cut a wavy edge (using a craft knife), then punched some holes on the edge and threaded through ribbon.

I've got to go out now but will finish the card off when I get home and then I'll post photos. :j

Sorry if someone's already suggested this (just skimmed the thread gonna read it properly later) A good use for tissue paper (esp white) if you do stamping is to stamp image onto tissue, cut it out and then using a glue stick layer it on top of card. It's almost see through, and takes the guess work out of poistioning.

    Hope I've explained it ok.

Will find a pic of somewhere I've used it to show you.

OK here's my card for todays challenge:

Also I need to pay my sons guitar teacher tomorrow, so I thought I'd make a card to put the money in (I might also happen to fancy him just a teeny, weeny, little bit :shhh:.......) This was just a quick make and very "thrown together"! :p

I also make my own envelopes out of old magazine pages. I already had a guitar one cut out, so I lined it with some "chords" paper I printed:

kisto - love both the cards, particularly the guitar one. How did you do that ? And envelopes.............never thought of doing that but do you have to stick something on the other side of the magazine page that you want showing ? (does that make sense ???) It's a brilliant idea and I wouldn't mind having a go. I'm often seeing pictures in sunday supplements that would be just right.

    Thanks mary43.

The guitar card has been made using images I found on google:

Main Guitar Image - I printed out the guitar image and glued it onto a brown envelope. Then using the technique that someone suggested earlier in this thread, I outlined the edge with a wet paint brush and tore around the image.

The main background for the card is this image, which I adjusted to sepia in my photo viewer. I printed it straight onto white card.

The brown headers and footers are cut from the first set of borders on this page: http://cp.c-ij.com/english/scrapbook/border/01.html

With regards to the envelopes, I first started making them after reading this thread: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=208059.0
To make the envelopes I simply dismantle an old one I have and trace around it. I would normally line the envelope to hide what is on the inside. Sometimes you get lucky and don't need to line the envelope as it has an interesting picture inside. You also don't have to fully line it, you could just line the flap and side that faces you. Also as some magazine pages can be quite flimsy, lining it does makes it a bit stronger.
