I have really taken a liking to the decoupage. I actually find it quite therapeutic and the end results can look quite effective.

I normally just find a picture I like on the internet and print it a few times and cut out all the bits I think would stand out.

Other than embossing some powder onto the cards and hitting them with the hairdryer I haven't tried any other embossing - well except for the edges of christening card but this was a cheating way - I borrowed my friend's "Keepsake Framey Embossing Board" which gave the nice edge scalloped edge. (I might have a look at these). I would love to try embossing a pattern onto a card but haven't really got a clue where to start, or what I would need.

I don't make a lot of cards but enjoy making them when I do - although they always seem to take me ages!!!

anic - brilliant cards !! Love the 3D one..............have to try that sort out. My cards are very basic I'm afraid due to low budget............our craft shop can be a bit on the expensive side so I try and use what I can find off the internet or old card I've had myself.

Here is a card especially for you Mary. When we were talking about edge punches you said that you only have a hole punch, so I decided to see what I could do with a hole punch. I just drew some pencil dots along the edge, turn the hole punch over so you can see where you are punching, position it over your pencil dot and punch, just make sure you only use one of the holes at a time, that is another reason to turn the hole punch upside down, hold it in your hand, IYSWIM.? I then stuck some shiny paper behind it.
so, Mary, you too can have interesting edges!

Thanks..............I'll have a go with that. If I haven't got shiny paper a contrasting colour would do I think. Good idea

Inspired by all the wonderful cards people have made on this thread, I decided to have a go at making a card for my friends birthday. . .

The papers are printed from: http://www.shabbyprincess.com/downloads.asp

For some reason, when I post, the formatting is going wrong and I can't insert line breaks. GGGRRRR!

Edit: Tidied my post up as it's letting me post fine on Internet explorer! It's just a problem with Firefox.
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j

kisto - thats really lovely....................oh dear............I'm really going to have to buck my ideas up ...................lol
Just done a card for my friend who's been ill and basically it was a piece of card with some pretty paper stuck on the front -I trimmed it a bit with my curvy scissors then put a contrasting piece on the inside, stuck an embelishment on and that was it.............lol

Polly, STOP being down on yourself. That is not allowed :naughty:
I am sure it is very good, you worked very hard on it, it is just different. Post a picture and you will see how people react, if your other cards are anything to go by, it will be very lovely. No more of that talk, believe in yourself
