I have made this nappy cake for a friend at work. It took a pack of 40 ish nappies. There are 2 bottles in the middle,1 lotion and 1 bath stuff. The teddy was 75p from charity shop and was brand new. The ribbon was from the haberdashry stall on the local market. I made it on a cake board. It was fiddly to make but not difficult and I'm really pleased with how it turned out in the end!

Wow :D I've seen these before, but never close up and I presumed that they were made of real nappies :o;) (I guess some are?) But I'm that impressed with the picture, and the instructions, that I want to try making one too. I don't know anyone that's pregnant and I definitely don't have the room, but that's never stopped me before:rotfl:

Thanks for posting it :)

Would the double sided adhesive tape from Poundland have helped? I've been using it this week, and wondered how I've managed without it :o:D

I tried to make a 'basket' with the bonnet but it reminds me of a contrived dogs' dinner :rotfl: I'll have to sort it out, and soon lol. If you click on one of the links I posted, you might spot it before I take it down, dismantle the bonnet, and start again.

Should be ready for next Easter then. Ho humm ;)

That looks really pretty vwcampervan :) Well done :T I like the idea of using a ribbon on the lid - I've done baskets with lids on and I realise now that the lids look better with that added touch :)

Those shredding bags are great aren't they? Like bottomless pits lol.

LOL bottomless pits yep,off to poundland in Solihull tomorrow hope they've got some more left going to stock up for Christmas Hampers, hopefully they've still got green in stock

Thanks Bec5670 I think you've explained really well, would love to see more photos.:A
Going shopping on Wednesday and Pampers has gone on the list along with elastic bands so I can start practising nappy rolling :D

I used 10 inch cake board which I got from Tesco or Asda - can't remember which! It was near the flour, sugar, icing etc. I used 3 metres of ribbon to tie round the 3 layers. I bought thin ribbon orignally but then had to buy thicker ribbon about an inch wide so it covered all the elastic bands better!

To stop it sliding off the cake board I used an extra piece of ribbon which I put underneath the bottom of the board and threaded it up through the ribbon on each layer on both sides and then tied it on top of the teddy with a bow. This also held the teddy on which was handy!! One of the websites I'd seen said you could use wooden skewers to secure the layers but didn't do that in the end.

You can just about see how the ribbon down the side holds it together on this photo (click to make them bigger)

Hi, I've been reading this thread now for quite a while and am hooked on hampers!
Just thought I'd let you know that QS has got a good sale on boxes which would be ideal for hampers. They were solid with lids, canvas and I saw them in pale pink, pale blue and brown. There were different sizes I got quite a large one for £3, and I think they started at £1 and went up to about £5. They also had lots of things which would be good for inside the hampers like candles etc starting from 50p.
Also Wilkinsons had really good ''Host your own Italian evening'' on the sale for £2, which I thought would be good for anyone doing an Italian style hamper, pasta, nice pasta sauce bottle of wine etc. The pack include an audio CD with tracks from Pavarotti and some others, a CD quiz game, hosts guide, invitations, recipies, name tags. And says on the box ''All you need to recreate the magic of Italia... without leaving your home!''
Hope this is useful for someone.

bec5670 - you are so talented! I'm now thinking about maybe giving this a go...

Also wanted to ask if there's a good place for baskets - is one place better than any other? I want nice baskets for not very much £!

Thanks everyone - you've inspired me to get more creative with my presents!!!

Wilkinsons, poundstrecher/instore, QS/bewise, ikea, pound shops, argos sometimes have good deals on sets of baskets, tesco, asda, morrisons.
Instore have some good ones at the moment they've got canvas lined ones, leather box style ones, different colour wicker ones, including pink/purple really good if you're doing a girlie hamper with lots of pink, lilac, purple things in. i did one of these last week for a 12 year old and it looked really good. Also depending on what sort of hamper you're doing you could use something which can be used along with the things in it, hope that makes sense! Like a foodie/cooking themed one you could use a nice mixing bowl/roasting pan. Car washing one a bucket.

Where is the best place to get the ribbons from for bows?
Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out - but I can usually shut her up with cake!
• Hi - I wasn't sure where to post this but I thought it might be of interest to some of you. Primark had leather look dark brown bins reduced from £5 to only £1 at lunch time today. They look really smart and might be excellent for male hampers or a chocolate lovers hamper. They are deep and would need some padding at the bottom like a towel etc.
