Manipulating the American Airlines booking computer

The code is '44'
44 being the international dialling code for the UK.
Mollybrush, in the next box, remove the 0 from your normal telephone number
e.g
instead of 01254. put in 1254.
and in the last box insert the rest of your number.
Mollybrush, if you think that you will be flying AA again, and want to start accruing the Airmiles to get the free flight in the future, don't optin for all the options (for which you get extra free airmiles just yet)0 -

No you can leave it in.0 -
Damn it. I am going out for the day. I have just rung AA to get the 15% off and they have said they do not think it applies to the dates I want to book, ie, 24 May to 14 June. Heathrow to LAX. I have tried to look on the Morgan Stanley site to see whether the dates are stated but I can't get in. AA did say their computer was not letting them in to some part, but they tried the price and it said there was no discount showing. Does anyone know what dates the promotion applies to?There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

Offer is valid from 1st July 2007 until 31st December 2008
It's not valid on Codeshare flights operated by other carriers.
Offer subject to availability0 -

Have you tried Airfrance got a mail from them saying they were just flying from heathrow to LAX and had flights from £320 in April to June no idea if this is a good deal but seems cheap0 -
Finally got off the 'phone to AA (0207 365 0777) and am 1/2 pleased and 1/2 !!!!!!.
I had on HOLD a return flight LHR-LAX for the Xmas period for 3 Adults and 1 Child. Total £1619.
(Made up of Fare Per Person £332 + £88 Tax * 3 and £279 + £86 for the child)
Rang to book and use the MASTER promotion.
CS woman had no idea what I was on about, but eventually agreed to knock off 15%
That was the GOOD news
She then comes back with a post discounted fare of £1500.
I queried this for a while ( ) and it turns out that the 15% is off the BASE Fare-which is actually £211 and NOT the £332 as shown on AA.com:mad:
Eventually I had to book this for £1500, so I did 'save' £119 but was expecting to save over £200.
I have emailed AA CS to see if this is correct and to also complain that their Fare Per Person is VERY misleading as it includes TAXES even though there is another column that has EXTRA taxes to be added.
I've also registered for the Platinum challenge so after this flight all 3 Adults will be PLAT until 20100 -
All discounts like that are always before tax with AA-I think it's more of an issue for us than for Americans who are used to seeing prices for everything without tax whereas we have VAT added in shops rather than a "surprise" addition at the till.
Also AA.com fares are often cheaper than fares quoted by phone so sometimes the fares when you add a voucher like the Mastercard one are higher. If you find a fare on aa.com but for some reason need to pay by phone instead (ie if you have a credit voucher to use up) so long as you have held the fare on aa.com they can take it at that price.. Adding a 15% discount means they have to recalculate the fare though so that might be the fare difference.
All these shiney new Plats on MSE shall we start a MSE Plat Club ?

Totally wrong I'm afraid.
The whole (MSE) point of this promo is that you can HOLD a fare found on AA.com (which are invariably cheaper than just ringing) and then ring in to claim the discount on that fare.
They did NOT recalculate the fare just because I was ringing in, they just revealed that in fact the Fare Per Person is actually BASE Fare + SURCHARGES.
So these hidden surcharges ( I can't find what they are for) are a whopping 50% of the BASE fare and then there's TAX on top of that!
As I said I'm half pleased but half !!!!!!.0 -

blindman, I know exactly what you mean.
I've checked the ticket for my forthcoming trip and the base fare (before tax/surcharges etc ) is (iirc) £117 with the taxes/surcharges being (IIRC) £200 :eek:. Not the £237 + £80 tax that is shown on the website (not complaining about the fare though, its still IMO a bargain).
Which made me wonder - next year when I claim my free flight, how free is it ?
Is it a completely free flight, or is it the free flight but pay the £80 tax, or is it the free flight plus the £200 tax.
Does anyone know for sure ?0 -

My 2008 AAdvantage award flight cost me £89 in taxes. In 2006 the tax was £43.
So its a free flight, plus about £90 in tax.0
