I've just called Sky and asked them about what to do when the free period ends. They said they can cancel the two mixes there and then - the chap suggested I call back on the last day of our free 6 month period and it will be cancelled immediately.

As we've previously discovered, the secret seems to be to call 08700 240 777 which is the number dedicated to this Pay Once Watch Forever, and the people who answer do know what you're talking about, and are helpful. If you use the 08702 404040 or any of the saynoto0870 alternatives, you get through to the usual Sky customer service who don't seem to know anything about the POWF scheme.

Hope this helps (and hope it works for us when the free period finishes)

Just to be sure I also rang the dedicated number as above and got put in a Q, today being the final day of our 6 months (and probably many other peoples). The people on this number do not deal with it, but take details and pass you on to another department who then string out the call with you hanging on whilst they do the job of checking and deleting the channels. Operative said this would be in next 4 hours, not instantly.

The 0870 call took 19.38 minutes in total!
  • I hung up after 21 minutes....

i have read this thread in horror having bought my parents this pack from currys for christmas and having a nightmare setting it up. Surely this is mis-selling at its worse, targeting the most vulnerable. I would imagine that a good number of people took this offer up as they can't afford a monthly contract, and it seems Sky are doing their best to scam them into one. I am now dreading March when my dad needs to cancel his, This is wrong. They should automatically cancel unless you ask them not to (ha ha). How can we get this to Martins attention? Surely Asda and Currys should take some responsibility? They took the money.

Hi everybody, Sky finally turned off the extra channels and all is well - but for how long, I wonder?

My Mums 6 months are up today, so I rang 01506 421702 and got through to India and explained that I'd like them to turn off the mixes and let her just receive the free to air channels only.
The young lady, who was very helpful, said she'd have to transfer me to someone else to get this done.
I was put through to a young man up in Scotland who said "No problem, I'll get it cancelled......Ignore the £19 bill that had arrived for month 7 and we'll drop you a line to let you know that you are now a freesat viewer"
Let hope they keep to their word !!
:j :T  :T :j or will it be
  • USE THAT NUMBER!! Cancelled my package even though was suppose to be 30 day notice. V Helpful

  • Just to say that Sky turned off the mixes as promised and now we just have the free to view channels.
Let's hope that's all sorted then.
Good luck to all you others who took this deal out !

To all who have this Sky deal, I have started a new warning thread as the saga has not finished for us yet, and this thread is now too long, look at this afternoon's posts in "shop but don't drop".
  • Hi all My 6 month trial was due to end to on 25th Jan, received a bill for £19(£15 +£4 as no DD set up, i refused at start) 2 weeks before. Rang to query, waited and waited spoke to two different depts not very helpful and they insisted I had to give a months notice not to continue with the dual package despite my protestations it was no commitment offer but they insisted the bill stood. 'you can always speak to Cusotmer services.' ......and waste another hour of my time no thanks! Then sent an e-mails via Sky website, no more luck there after several exchanges, again they insisted I need to give a months notice, although managed to get bill reduced as extension not a full month, after which I will get the Free Sat channels. Not happy but did not want to run risk of getting poor credit rating for non payment as mortagage renewal due soon.

My word of advice is to write into Sky soon after receiving the installation to give notice to terminate 6 months hence, do not sign any of the DD requests and then they shoud; just switch off the packages on arranged date, you can then always change you mind and stay with the packages nearer the time without risk of penalty. Hope this helps others save time and money in fighting this somewhat underhand sky deal.
